Helmet has to be bought from dealer only

The Supreme Court has ordered two-wheeler dealers in India to deliver a bike or scooter bundled with a helmet thereby the apex court retained the order which was given by the Delhi High Court. The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SAIM) had filed a special Leave Petition (SLP) in the supreme court against the High court order. However, the apex court has not change the decision and made it compulsory to sell a helmet with a new two-wheeler. The Supreme Court bench comprising Mr Justice G.S. Singhvi and Mr Justice A.K. Ganguly, however, said it was inclined to dismiss the SLP, after which the petitioner's lawyers told the court that they preferred to withdraw the plea instead. Two-wheeler Industry said that the new order will be creating a big problems for customers who have to buy a new helmet even if they have it already. "How We can force to buy a another new helmet which is already having a helmet, it added. The Delhi High Court created a serious problem in directing that all purchasers of two-wheelers have to purchase helmet from the dealers. The new rule will reduce the freedom of the purchaser open choice of new helmet, said the industry body.
