With new electric scooters, motorcycles and even bicycles, the upcoming Auto Expo looks promising for the EV world

Every year, we wait with bated breath for the Auto Expo so that we can lay eyes on some new, sweet two-wheelers. But, this year is going to be different, as Suzuki and Piaggio are the only manufacturers that will represent Team Petrol. Most of the space will be covered by new electric two-wheelers. So here’s a quick look at what Team Electric is going to bring at this year’s expo:

Okinawa:

Okinawa is one of the few names in this list that you might have heard of. The electric scooter manufacturer is planning to showcase its first motorcycle at the expo. The OKi100 e-motorcycle, in its prototype form, looks like a scaled-down version of the Monster. For now, we don’t have the specs, but the manufacturer has announced that Oki100 will bear a sub-Rs 1 lakh price tag and will have a range of 150km. Okinawa claims the electric motorcycle will have a top speed of 100kmph. While these numbers might be similar to that of the Revolt RV400, it is not yet known if the motorcycle will have the same set of features as the RV400.

M2Go:

M2Go entered the Indian electric two-wheeler segment in November 2019, so it is a fairly new manufacturer in this list. Currently, the EV maker has only two scooters in its lineup: Civitas and X-1. However, we believe M2Go will bring a new electric scooter at the upcoming Auto Expo. While the Civitas is priced at Rs 1.08 lakh, the X-1 retails for Rs 94,500. So, we expect the manufacturer to bring a new entry-level scooter as the number of affordable e-scooters in the country has risen tremendously.

EeVe

EvEr heard of EeVe? Well, the e-scooter maker debuted in India back in August 2019 with four electric scooters: 4U, Xeniaa, Wind and Your. No, we are not making this up; these are the original names. Since then, we haven’t heard anything from the manufacturer about its future plans, but looking at the EV segment, we believe EeVe might add a new scooter to the lineup during the expo.

Hero Electric:

Hero Electric is one of the most popular EV brands in this list. The Indian EV maker has more than 10 electric scooters in its portfolio! So, is Hero Electric planning to add another one to its lineup at the expo? Well, we don’t know yet. The brand already has a range of scooters, which are priced between Rs 37,000 and Rs 65,000, so it could introduce a brand new, range-topping scooter to take on the Ather 450 and the upcoming Bajaj Chetak.

Zen Mobility:

You might have never heard of Zen Mobility, but it might just be among the very few manufacturers to bring some cool concepts at the upcoming expo. The brand is expected to bring several electric two-wheelers, scooters, motorcycles, as well as autonomous cars!

Devot Motors:

Devot is another company that you (in fact, even we) have never heard of. The brand hasn’t revealed anything as of now, but there is some information on its website. For instance, the upcoming electric motorcycle will have a range of 200km and a top speed of 100kmph (both are claimed figures). It will come with a keyless start, modular battery setup, and a fast charger.

Bird Mobility:

Along with several electric scooters, we might get to see electric cycles as well. The Gocycle gets a pretty fuss-free design with no loose cables dangling on the front. Bird claims the e-bike weighs just 16kg, making it quite easy for small commutes. But apart from that, we are still waiting for some more information from the brand.

Segway:

Segway is known for its uber cool hoverboards, but the manufacturer is now planning to expand its lineup by adding electric bikes to its portfolio. And not just any normal bicycle, but two electric dirt bikes! There are two variants on offer: X160 and X250. The base variant gets a 3kW motor, which helps the bike reach 50kmph. Segway claims the 20Ah battery in the entry-level model can be charged in 3-4 hours and offers a range of 65km. The top-spec X250 gets a bigger 5kW motor and a 32Ah battery, which the company claims can be fully charged in four hours. The manufacturer claims the X250 has a top speed of 75kmph and a range of 120km.

Tork:

It’s been a really long time since we have heard anything from Tork. The Pune-based EV maker first showcased the T6X at the 2016 expo, but since then, Tork has been dripping us with some information every now and then. Tork claims the T6X can be charged up to 80 per cent in an hour and is capable of a 100km range. Moreover, we have already seen the test mules running on the streets quite a few times and have an idea of what to expect from the production version. The electric motorcycle is expected to be priced at Rs 1.5 lakh.

Everve Motors:
Pune-based Everve Motors will unveil its first all-electric scooter at the 2020 Auto Expo. The upcoming scooter is positioned as a premium electric scooter and has a claimed top speed of 110kmph! The company also says that its lithium-ion battery can be fully charged within 5 hours via a conventional 5A socket. What else do we know about this scooter? Head here to find out

eMotion:
eMotion, an Indian EV startup, will showcase the production-version of their Surge electric motorcycle at Auto Expo 2020. The Coimbatore-based bikemaker first unveiled a prototype of the Surge in 2018. When launched, the Surge will be the second e-motorcycle in India after the Revolt RV 400. eMotion claims that the Surge will have more than 40 features like animated turn signals and SOS safety tech. In addition to this, it will have features such as a 7-inch instrument console, GPS navigation, reverse mode, smartphone integration and cloud connectivity and IOT (Internet Of Things).
