Electric Bajaj Bike Development Confirmed! Here’s What Bajaj’s Executive Director Says
From daily commuters to performance-oriented bikes, Bajaj seems to be working hard for an electrifying future

Quick News Highlights:
-
Bajaj confirms all-new electric motorcycle platform under development
-
The upcoming platform is designed to spawn multiple electric bikes, from commuters to performance-oriented
-
That said, we think Bajaj is still a few years away from an actual launch
Bajaj Auto, in a recent earnings call, mentioned that it is gearing up for a major leap in its electric journey. The Pune-based bikemaker has confirmed that it is developing an all-new electric motorcycle platform, designed and engineered entirely by the brand. This upcoming architecture will serve as the foundation for a range of models, spanning from affordable commuter e-bikes to high-performance offerings, as part of what Executive Director Rakesh Sharma describes as a “vigorous R&D push.”
These details are in addition to what the brand revealed about multiple new Bajaj, KTM as well as Triumph bike launches planned for India.

Learn From The Past, Apply To The Future
During the company’s Q2 FY26 earnings call, Sharma highlighted that Bajaj’s ongoing research effort is not limited to a single use case. “We are working across the spectrum, from entry-level motorcycles to premium, high-performance applications, both for the domestic and global markets,” he said.
Bajaj has a strong history of cost-effective manufacturing, so that along with the experience gained from selling the Chetak electric scooter will be crucial in developing the electric motorcycle platform.

Exciting Times Ahead
The electric motorcycle segment is gaining strong traction of late, with new players entering the space. While it is still a bit niche at the moment, it has a huge potential to become more mainstream in the coming years, so Bajaj’s electric bike development is bang on time. Bajaj is pretty serious about the electric motorcycle space as Sharma summed up aptly: “It’s better to be ready for opportunities than to miss them entirely.”
We reckon the first product to be a commuter-oriented electric bike as Bajaj would want to test waters with a fairly affordable EV that’s relevant to the masses. Expect it to be unveiled some time in 2027. As for the sporty e-bike, we might see something along the lines of Pulsar Electric, hopefully!
