The DAO 703 gets a 9-inch LCD screen

  • Offers a claimed maximum range of 100 km.
  • Gets keyless operation, reverse gear, and a charging port as well.
  • DAO claims a top speed of 70kmph.

At this point, we’ve probably lost the count of EVs launched in India. From the Ather 450X and Bajaj Chetak to the TVS iQube and Revolt, the list goes on. Now, China-based EV startup, DAO, has launched its 703 e-scooter positioned in between the premium electric offerings in the Indian market. DAO hasn’t revealed the pricing for the 703, but we’ll update this space as soon as we get our hands on them.

The DAO 703 e-scooter uses a lithium-iron-phosphate battery with a BLDC motor making 3.5kW of peak power, although DAO hasn’t mentioned the torque figures yet. It offers a claimed top speed of 70kmph and a range of up to 100km.

Backing up these numbers is the 703’s extensive feature list. Apart from the 9-inch LCD display, DAO has equipped the scooter with a reverse gear and the Intelligent Release System, instead of the conventional kill switch.

It comes with a one-click repair function and automatic power-off during a rollover, fall or if stuck in deep water. Other features include cruise mode, a charging port, a central lock, keyless operation, an anti-theft alarm, find my scooter function, and LED lights all around.

The DAO 703 is suspended on a conventional telescopic front fork and a pair of adjustable rear shocks. Braking is via disc brakes at the front and rear end with possibly CBS, rather and ABS. The e-scooter tips the weighing scale at 85kg, excluding the battery, which is still quite light if you ask us.

It will rival the Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, and Ather 450X. Dao offers the 703 e-scooter in four colours: white, red, blue, and a shade of mint blue. Moreover, the brand is working in accordance with the FAME II guidelines to make the scooters more accessible for buyers.
