This e-scooter can go 70km on a full charge

The electric two-wheelers just keep on coming! Latest in this long line is the Envy from Uttarakhand-based manufacturer Crayon Motors. It is the brand's second e-scooter after the Zeez, and comes in two variants. The VRLA variant is priced at Rs 53,000 and gets a lead-acid battery while the lithium-ion variant sells for Rs 65,000.

Both variants get features like LED lighting, alloy wheels, a front disc brake, keyless ignition and USB charging. This is a low speed scooter with a top speed of less than 25kmph, which means that no license is required to ride it. A 250 watt BLDC motor propels the Envy and both variants can do 70km on a single charge but while the VRLA variant weighs 100kg, the Li-ion version tips the scales at just 80kg.

Crayon Motors is offering a warranty of two years on the lithium-ion battery pack and one year on the lead-acid battery, with a rated life cycle of 800 charges and 500 charges respectively. The former requires just 2-3 hours to charge up fully while the latter will take 5-6 hours to top up. With the introduction of the Envy, the size of the electric-two wheeler market has grown even further. Urban electric commuters are now available by the truckload with e-scooters from brands like Ather Energy, Okinawa and Hero Electric as well as an electric motorcycle from Revolt.
