BREAKING: Kinetic DX Gets A Range Boost: New Variants Priced From Rs 1.18 Lakh

Kinetic has given the DX a larger battery but the power goes down a bit

Quick Highlights:

  • DX+ gets a new variant with a 3.1kWh LFP battery with a claimed 132km IDC range

  • The DX also gets a new 3 kWh battery pack variant

  • The existing 2.6kWh DX and DX+ variants continue to be on sale

Kinetic has expanded the DX electric scooter range in India with two new larger-battery variants: the DX 3 kWh and DX+ 3.1 kWh. The new versions retain the retro-inspired metal body, design and features of the DX but get larger battery packs. In the case of the DX+, a significantly higher claimed range. Kinetic will continue to sell the existing 2.6kWh versions alongside the new variants, giving buyers four versions of the electric DX to choose from.

DX+

The new DX 3 kWh is Rs 7,100 more expensive than the existing DX 2.6 kWh, while the DX+ 3.1 kWh commands a Rs 6,476 premium over the existing DX+ 2.6 kWh.

Kinetic DX+ 3.1 kWh: More Range, Less Power

On the DX+, the new variant gets a 3.1 kWh LFP battery, as compared to the 2.6 KWh on the lower variant.

Interestingly, while the battery capacity has increased, the motor output has actually gone down. The DX+ 3.1 kWh gets a 3.8 kW motor, as compared the 4.78 kW motor on the DX+ 2.6 kWh. The lower version also has three riding modes: Range, Power and Turbo, while the new 3.1 kWh version gets just Range and Power modes.

Where the new scooter makes up for that is range. The 2.6 kWh DX+ has a claimed IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) range of 105 km, while the new 3.1 kWh version offers a significantly higher 132 km IDC range. Kinetic also claims a real-world range of around 105-110 km for the new version.

The new DX+ 3.1 kWh variant comes with the same set of features as the lower variant, such as Easy Charge, regenerative braking, Park Assist with Reverse and IP67 water and dust protection as well.

The rest of the package remains familiar, including the 37-litre under-seat storage, 12-inch wheels, 220mm front disc and 130mm rear drum brake.

Kinetic DX 3 kWh: Bigger Battery For The Standard DX

The DX also gets a new variant with 3 kWh battery, however its motor details are yet undisclosed. It will be sold alongside the 2.6 kWh battery variant.Ð

The standard DX also gets a larger battery variantcompared to the existing DX 2.6 kWh. The outgoing DX uses a 2.6 kWh LFP battery and produces 4.77 kW of peak power, with a claimed IDC range of 102km. The new DX 3 kWh gets a 3 kWh battery, while its peak power output and claimed range are currently unknown.

The DX 2.6 kWh gets an off-board charger, and the new 3kWh version should likely get the same setup. The scooter continues to use the same basic DX platform, including its metal body, telescopic front fork, adjustable twin rear shocks, 12-inch wheels and 220mm front disc brake.

The new DX 3 kWh also retains the DX's practicality-focused character, including the 37-litre under-seat storage, 165 mm ground clearance and 1,315 mm wheelbase.

The DX 2.6 kWh is offered in Black and Silver, while the DX+ 3.1 kWh gets five colour options: Black, Silver, Blue, White and Red.

BikeDekho Says

The new larger-battery versions make the Kinetic DX a more compelling proposition, particularly for buyers who prioritise range and everyday usability.

However, one thing that we would loved if Kinetic would have retained the performance levels of the lower variants on the newer ones. The new DX+ makes 3.8kW compared to the older model's 4.78kW, and it also loses the Turbo riding mode.

We would also have liked to see a newer and cleaner instrument console. Although the current 8.8-inch LCD unit retains the distinctive retro-inspired look, but the overall layout can feel quite cluttered, especially considering the amount of information and connected functionality the scooter offers.
