It weighs just 40kg and packs a range of upto 120km

Kolkata-based EV manufacturer Motovolt has launched the Urbn, an electric moped in India for a price of Rs 49,999 (ex-showroom). The urbn comes with a Lithium-ion removable battery which helps it accelerate from 0-25kmph in less than 10 seconds. Motovolt claims a range of upto 120 km and the electric moped can be fully charged in four hours. It also comes with pedal assist. Its top speed is restricted to 25kmph, meaning that you don’t require a license as it’s a low-speed offering.

Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic fork and dual shocks, while discs at both ends take care of braking. In terms of features, the Urbn electric moped packs an LCD console along with a smartphone application that enables connectivity. This electric moped tips the scales at only 40kg, while getting a payload capacity of a healthy 120kg. For perspective, the TVS XL 100 has a payload of 130kg.

Available in four jazzy colours, bookings for the Urbn have already begun on Motovolt’s website for just Rs 99. You can even get it in the more than 100 retail stores that the company has across the country. With that, the Urbn goes up against the Bounce Infinity E1 and Hero Electric Optima CX(Single Battery). It also acts as a great alternative to the TVS XL 100 with a lower running cost considering it’s running on electricity. Its payload, too, is not far off from the X100’s.
