    • BGauss will compete in the premium electric two-wheeler segment.
    • E-scooters will come with quick charging and IoT.
    • Manufacturing has already begun at the company’s Chakan plant in Pune.
    • Plans to produce 80,000 units in the financial year 2020-21.

RR Global, a wire manufacturing company, has stepped into the Indian electric two-wheeler segment under the sub-brand BGauss. It seeks to compete in the premium two-wheeler space with two new products in a total of five variants that will cater to the masses. The manufacturing and assembling of the scooters have already begun at the company’s Chakan plant in Pune. It is aiming to produce 80,000 units for the year 2020-21. Quite ambitious if you ask us.

While details are scarce, the press release states the two scooters will cater to the premium electric two-wheeler space designed specifically for urban and developing areas. The company’s focus is on offering a fluid design, ease, comfort, low maintenance, great power, quick charging and IoT.

The squarish design looks sleek and features what looks like a full-LED lighting system. Its hardware includes a telescopic front fork with a front disc for better anchorage. The rear wheel seems to house a hub motor and a single shock absorber.

The first of the two products will cater to the performance segment, just like the TVS iQube and Ather 450X, with an expected top speed of around 85-90 kmph. It’s expected to be priced between Rs 1.25 lakh and Rs 1.40 lakh. The second model is expected to offer a top speed of up to 50kmph for a price of around Rs 50,000 to Rs 90,000.

The two-wheeler manufacturer says its sales and service network will spread across the southern and western region of India in the first phase.

There’s an interesting theory about the name ‘BGauss’. You see the electric motor of EVs function using electromagnetic principles. Gauss, in this case, is used to measure the magnetic field and it is symbolised by ‘B’, thus the name BGauss.

Speaking about the company’s plans, Hemant Kabra, Director of RR Global and Founder and Managing Director of BGauss, said, “We truly believe that electric mobility will define the future of transport. We understand the Indian market and have successfully placed India in the world map through our cables and wire businesses. Our strong background of having established multiple electrical businesses across verticals owing to the robust R&D, will further complement our efforts in the EV segment. Our group has proven over the years that all our investments and businesses are embedded with deep market insights ensuring that the products strike a chord instantly with the audience.”
