This e-scooter is capable of delivering a claimed range of 120km per charge

  • The Benling Aura will be positioned to compete against the Ather 450.
  • It packs a 2500W, 72V Brushless motor and a 72V/40Ah  lithium-ion battery.
  • The Benling Aura has a company claimed top speed of 60kmph.
  • The brand also has a second high-speed scooter in the pipeline.

Benling, a Chinese based two-wheeler manufacturer that set up shop in India last December, has plans of launching a new e-scooter next month. The Aura, as the company calls it, will be a high-speed e-scooter that will take on the likes of the Ather 450, which is currently the benchmark in the electric scooter segment in India.

To do this, Benling has equipped the scooter with a 2500W, 72V brushless electric motor and a 72V/40Ah lithium-ion battery. The setup is capable of delivering a claimed range of 120km on a single charge and a top speed of 60kmph. The battery can be fully charged in a span of three hours via a conventional household power socket.

In terms of design, the scooter looks eerily similar to the Vespa VXL but packs a tonne of features. For instance, the scooter gets a full-digital instrument console, reverse park assist, anti-theft alarm, keyless entry and a segment-first smart breakdown assistance system. Essentially, this system allows the scooter to travel 15-20km with a simple push of a button in the case of a breakdown. Benling will also throw in GPS and IOT (internet of things) as optional extras if need be. In essence, you could then pair your smartphone with the scooter for various purposes.

On the mechanical front, the Benling Aura comes equipped with a telescopic fork and a rear twin shock setup. Its braking setup comprises of disc brakes at both ends while its 12-inch wheels come wrapped in 90/90-section tyres at the front and rear.

The Benling Aura is expected to be priced around Rs 90,000 (ex-showroom) which includes FAME-II subsidy. But that’s not all. There’s a second high-speed e-scooter in the pipeline called the ‘Believe’ which could be launched as early as November this year. It packs similar features and equipment but is expected to be priced relatively lower than the Aura. We’ll be sure to let you know in case of any further updates. Until then, stay tuned to BikeDekho.
