The 2024 Karizma XMR comes loaded with practical attributes that make it a great addition to any garage no matter what kind of rider you are!
There is no doubt that the Hero Karizma XMR evokes bouts of nostalgia like nothing else - especially among a generation of Indian motorcyclists who had the good fortune of experiencing the original Karizma two decades ago. But the appeal for the Karizma XMR goes way beyond just emotion - there is a long list of features that tug at the practical buyer too. Everything from its sleek, sporty design to ergonomics, engine and tech, here’s what we think are 5 of the most prominent reasons why you should bring a 2024 Karizma XMR home to further enhance your motorcycling experience.
1. 25.5 PS, 20 Nm: Power at the twist of your wrist
Right off the bat, let’s put it out there - the Karizma XMR is the most powerful motorcycle in its segment! The 25.5PS of power is achieved at 9,250rpm while its 20.4Nm of torque peaks slightly lower at 7,250rpm. Now these aren’t just great numbers to look at on paper - they translate into some really engaging riding capabilities in the real world too. The short stroke 210cc 4-valve liquid-cooled DOHC engine running a 12:1 compression ratio is actually pretty happy at low revs too - making the Karizma XMR a breeze on a chilled out highway cruise or even while pottering around in peak urban traffic. Once the tachometer goes beyond 6,000rpm though, it really comes to life and screams all the way to the 10,000rpm red line as you shift effortlessly through the 6-speed transmission with aplomb. So no matter whether you like fast long rides or short sprints, the Karizma XMR is the perfect tool for every kind of ride.
2. Sorted ergonomics make for a comfortable ride
The true beauty of the Karizma XMR’s package gets highlighted once you perch yourself on the rider’s seat and you instantly realise how it perfectly complements the gem of an engine we spoke about earlier. The riding posture is on the sporty side with the rider leaning forward to grab on to the clip-on handlebars, but with the decently rearset footpegs, it all falls into place as a natural stance to be sitting in for a motorcycle of the Karizma XMR’s character. The rider and pillion seats are perfectly padded too which ensure you’re never sore regardless of whether you’re on a short commute or a long road trip. What’s more - the 810mm seat height coupled with a body that is fairly narrow between your knees means even shorter riders will be able to manage in peak city traffic without any issues, despite the motorcycle itself being fairly large to give that proper ‘big bike feel’. Suspension duties are handled by 37mm telescopic front forks and a rectangular swing arm with a gas-charged, 6-step pre-load adjustable monoshock at the rear that is as good at soaking up bad roads as it is at carving through corners. The Karizma XMR is all about the way all these individual components work together - right from the versatile engine, the sorted ergonomics, the pliant suspension and even the high tensile steel trellis frame; to deliver a riding experience like no other.
3. Always in control, even under braking!
Any motorcycle that has the ability to go fast also needs the capability to slow it down just as effectively while keeping things in complete control. This is where the Karizma XMR’s braking setup shines further. The front end is equipped with a big 300mm petal disc with a 230mm petal disc anchoring the rear. Along with the Dual-channel ABS, this makes for some pretty heavy stopping power while ensuring no slips or slides or skids happen no matter what the surface of the road below is. This gets further enhanced by the chunky tyres both fore and aft - 100/80-17 rubber in the front and a wide 140/70-17 tyre in the rear.
4. The all-rounder - true to the Karizma name
If there was one thing that the original Karizma stood out for, it was its versatile nature. The Karizma XMR brings that versatility and takes it a notch further by adapting to a modern era of riding. The proportions of the XMR means it is instantly noticeable, giving it a distinct road presence and a feel more akin to bikes of much bigger capacities. At the same time the perfectly engineered riding position and sporty stance make it a hoot to ride around in the city. The steering geometry makes it flickable through traffic and fun on the twisties. There’s enough room for the rider to move around in the rider’s seat as well and the well-padded seat itself means long rides are extremely comfortable - with a pillion or even luggage strapped to the rear seat. And then there’s that sharply designed front fairing with the large height-adjustable windscreen that just cuts through the air like a warm knife through butter, keeping the wind off the rider’s body and further aiding the stress-free riding experience that the Karizma XMR offers so well. So if you’re looking for one motorcycle that has the ability to do it all, and do it really well, the Karizma XMR is definitely worth getting!
5. Tech, Connectivity and all those shiny bits
While everything above talks about how great the Karizma XMR is to ride, there is more to the equation in 2024. The XMR is loaded with technology - a must for any modern motorcycle. All the way from the signature H-shaped DRLs and the segment-first intelligent Class-D LED projector headlights to the LED tail light and indicators, the Karizma XMR lights up the road brilliantly. To top that off is the feature-laden digital console with everything you need at your fingertips. You can connect your smartphone to the Karizma XMR and access important information such as phone battery status, missed and incoming call and sms message alerts. It even features turn-by-turn navigation along with a Real Time Mileage Indicator, Gear shift indicator with a shift prompt and an ambient light sensor.
With so much that the Karizma XMR has to offer, it is really hard to ignore it as the only bike you’ll need in your garage.
