2 New Triumph 400cc Bikes Reportedly On The Way, One Of Them Will Be A Royal Enfield Rival

Triumph is getting ready to grow its popular 400cc bike lineup, reportedly with two new models: a flat track-inspired bike rumoured to be called either the Street Scrambler 400 or the Scrambler T4 coming later this year, and a Bonneville 400 which is currently under consideration.
Street Scrambler 400
The Triumph Scrambler T4 will reportedly be launched in October 2025, built on the same platform as the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X but having its own unique style. We had already seen the spy shots of the bike, and it gets a bench seat along with redesigned side panels, with a design that can be considered a mix of roadster and a scrambler. While the bike's name isn't confirmed yet, let's call it the Street Scrambler / Scrambler T4 for now.
The Street Scrambler 400 will use the same 398cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine as rest of the 400cc Triumph bikes. What remains to be seen is whether it will get a different state of tune.
Even the underpinnings are likely to remain the same as the Speed 400: the inverted fork, pre-load adjustable monoshock, 17-inch wheels and disc brakes at both ends. That said, it’ll have block-pattern tyres at both ends. The expected price is around Rs 2.60 lakh (ex-showroom), making it more affordable than the Triumph Scrambler 400 X.
Triumph Bonneville 400
Triumph is also reportedly exploring the possibility of making a more retro-styled bike, likely to be called Bonneville 400. Apart from carrying the iconic Bonneville name, it may also have the classic, chromed out looks and comfortable riding experience.
The Triumph Bonneville bike based on the 400cc platform will follow one of two possibilities: a retro bike based on the affordable Speed T4 or something a little more premium than the Speed - to justify the Bonneville’s rich heritage. Irrespective of which route the brand takes, we can expect retro elements including spoke wheels, simple bodywork with chromed out bits, and hopefully a twin-pod semi-digital instrument console.
If Triumph chooses to make the Bonneville affordable with the Speed T4 as the base, then Royal Enfield will have a real reason to worry as it might be priced closer to the Royal Enfield Classic 350. On the other hand, making a powerful, premium Bonnie will mean it will make it the only properly retro bike in the 400cc segment. That way, Triumph will have the first mover advantage in this space.

All bikes in this segment are made by Bajaj in Pune, which allows Triumph to price them competitively while maintaining quality. We expect the same story with the affordable Scrambler as well as the Bonneville. The success of the 400cc range has helped Triumph reach new customers in India and other markets.
By expanding the lineup, Triumph seems to be closing-in on Royal Enfield at least as far as small capacity bikes are concerned. This supplements the brand’s big bikes - something Royal Enfield is missing (but not for long).
