Ducati Diavel Expert Review

September 15, 2015: Recently, there was a news in the air that the Ducati is going to snatch the Sports look from the ongoing Ducati Diavel in its upcoming second-gen model in 2016. The upcoming 2016 model will look like a normal cruiser bike and its sportier touch will be missed by the followers. The second gen Ducati Diavel may come with some important changes in the engine. Also, it will be furnished with flatter and lower height of fuel tank that will steal the sporty look from the cruiser. Ducati’s new arrival Diavel cruiser is expected to launch soon at EICMA. Few months back, the Italian Manufacturing Company has introduced it’s Ducati Diavel range in the country along with few other motorcycles. It comes with three variants i.e. Ducati Diavel, Diavel Carbon and Diavel Titanium. All the three machines are powered by 1198.4cc, Testastretta 11° L-Twin, liquid-cooled engine that pumps out 162hp of power. It is clear from their names that the Ducati Diavel is the most basic version while Diavel Carbon comes with considerable use of carbon fibre in its body. The third and last variant, Diavel Titanium has titanium work on the headlight cover and fuel tank. The smashing series ranges from Rs. 22 lacs to Rs. 37 lacs (ex-showroom, Mumbai).

The bike makes its own place as one of the most perfectly designed and magnificent cruisers globally. This cruiser motorcycle comes wrapped in an all-black theme along with neat body curves, which provides it a superb appearance. This bike built on a tubular steel trellis frame and has a wheelbase of 1580 mm, which offers it more power to turn sharply around the corners. The front section comes with a full LED headlamp, which is incorporated with two vertical positioning lights that make it look even more amazing. Besides this, it has sharply designed fuel tank along with the fuel tank shrouds, which improves its overall appearance.

Coming to the tail section, the body structure of the bike has a sporty seat with super elegant stainless steel muffler. It has a ground clearance of 130 mm. Total dry and kerb weight of the bike are 210 kg and 239 kg respectively. The motorcycle is furnished with the neatly designed fuel tank and has a storage capacity of 17 liters. The instrumental console displays the information in two parts i.e. first on the fuel tank and another one is on the handlebar. The first part of the console displays the information about the selected driving mode. On the other hand, the handlebar unit consists of a digital speedometer, tachometer, trip meter, air temperature, coolant temperature and fuel gauge.

The company configured it with a 1,198.4cc, Testastretta 11° L-twin, liquid-cooled mill along with a six-speed transmission setup and wet multi-plate slipper clutch arrangement. It churns out a peak power of 162bhp at 9250rpm with a maximum torque of 130.5 Nm at 8000rpm. Furthermore, it is furnished with a wire controlled electronic fuel injection system, which provides it a crisp throttle response and superior power delivery.

The bike comes fitted with a set of grippy Pirelli DiabloRosso II tyres, which offers an admirable ride quality and safety. The 120/70-ZR17 front and 240/45-ZR17 rear tyres have a good grip on the road, thereby giving an uncompromised riding experience. This motorcycle also comes fitted with Marzocchi fully adjustable 50mm upside down forks at the front and fully adjustable mono shock with progressive linkage at the rear to handle the bumpiness of road easily. Moreover, it is integrated with 320mm dual disc brakes with Brembo four-piston caliper at the front and 265mm single disc brake with twin-piston caliper at the rear. Besides, it is equipped with high-performance Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) which ensure safe and secure braking.

The Italian manufacturer has offered it with a Ducati Traction Control (DTC) system. The system instantly senses the spin of the rear wheel and gave commands to other parts of the engine to work accordingly in order to stop it. The bike also comes with a unique keyless ignition, which works within a range of around 2 meters and it can start the bike automatically. It also configured with three types of riding modes i.e. Sport, Touring and Urban. All the riding modes of the bike offer different throttle and engine configurations for adjusting the ride according to the terrains. The company has also furnished it with Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tyres offering a better bite on the road and delights the rider with its high-performance features.
