With only one week left for the year to say goodbye, we saw a mix of updates from 2015 and the upcoming 2016. For those who missed the latest happenings this week, here is the sum-up. Kawasaki ended their year with the launch of Versys 650 and KLX110, India all set to host its first Electric Vehicle Expo, we give a tribute to the ‘Hero’ of Indian two-wheeler industry and list the upcoming bikes in 2016. Kawasaki Versys 650 and KLX110 Launched in India at Rs 6.60 lac and Rs 2.65 lac Respectively
Kawasaki Versys 650 and KLX110 have been launched in India at Rs 6.60 lac and Rs 2.65 lac respectively (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi). The much-awaited middleweight touring motorcycle Versys 650 is inspired from its elder sibling Versys 1000, which is already being sold in the Indian market. Kawasaki has also launched an off-road motorcycle KLX110 and its body design resembles the flagship model “motocross KX450”. Read More
Country’s First Electric Vehicle Expo to be Held From December 24
India's first international electric vehicle auto show, EV-Expo is scheduled to take place from December 24 to 27 at Pragati Maidan in Delhi. This event will be inaugurated by Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways and will showcase the latest technological advancements in the field of the environment-friendly vehicles and components. The show is expected to feature more than 100 EV manufacturers across the globe, including over 22 Chinese EV makers. The auto show is coming at a right time as the Indian capital is working on reducing pollution levels in the city. The Delhi government has decided to implement Odd-Even rule for cars and has also banned the registration of cars having an engine displacement of 2,000cc or more for a period of three months, starting from January 2016. Hero MotoCorp to inaugurate R&D center in Jaipur on 14th January
Hero MotoCorp has developed a new R&D centre with an investment of Rs 450 crore, which will be inaugurated on 14th January 2016 at Kukas near Jaipur. The new facility will be called Hero Centre of Global Innovation and Research and Design. The new R&D centre will have a team of 400 experienced engineers working on upcoming projects and the Gurgaon and Dharuhera centres will be shifted to this new facility located in the outskirts of Jaipur. 2016 Mahindra Gusto 125 to be launched Next Year
Mahindra Two-Wheelers is gearing up to introduce a higher displacement variant of its best-selling Scooter Gusto in the early part of the next year. From last few months, it was rumoured that Indian manufacturer will be introducing a more powerful and accelerant scooter Mahindra Gusto 125cc soon and as per some sources, the upcoming scooter is production ready and will be launched by the company in 2016. Harley Davidson India to discontinue Fatboy Special & Superlow Cruisers from 2016
Harley-Davidson will be discontinuing two of its ambitious two-wheeled offerings- Superlow and Fatboy Special from the next year. Both the cruiser bikes from H-D Sportster and Softail not only failed to fulfill the expectations of the manufacturer but also did not receive a good sale response from the customers. As a result, the company has decided to discontinue both the bikes from the Indian market and will not be selling them from 2016. Read More
