MV Agusta is working on a 350cc motorcycle platform

MV Agustas To Be Priced Under Rs 5 Lakh

  • MV Agusta had previously partnered with Chinese bikemaker Loncin Motorcycles to develop small-capacity motorcycles.
  • The upcoming small-capacity motorcycles will have a twin-cylinder motor.
  • The motorcycles will be practical enough for everyday use.
  • A working prototype is expected to be showcased at EICMA next year and launch in India by late 2021.

We had previously broken a story on MV Agusta partnering with China-based Loncin motorcycles to make small-capacity motorcycles ranging from 350cc to 500cc. We have now learnt that the upcoming motorcycle will have a twin cylinder powerplant. It will be sold in western markets as well as countries where there is a demand for small-capacity premium motorcycles. Given that MV Agusta has a presence in India, we expect it to get the small-capacity motorcycles here as well.

MV Agustas To Be Priced Under Rs 5 Lakh

This information comes straight from Timur Sardarov, CEO of MV Agusta. According to him, the new powerplant will be used in different motorcycles platforms and will offer everyday usability. So we could expect a 350cc naked and adventure motorcycle among others.

The motorcycles will be premium but will be priced with younger riders in mind. This would mean prices  in the range of EUR 6,000 to 7,000 (Rs 4.76 lakh to 5.5 lakh) in Western markets. Getting the motorcycles to India via the CBU route could prove expensive and given the tie-up with Loncin, MV Agusta could very well consider bringing them from China via the CKD route. Still, that could mean the motorcycles being priced in the Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 6.5 lakh range.

The new motorcycles are likely to be showcased in prototype form at EICMA next year and launched in India by the second half of 2021. When launched, the small-capacity MV Agustas will rival the likes of Benelli, CFMoto and Husqvarna.
