Kabira Mobility KM 4000 Electric Bike Spied

The motorcycle appears to draw inspiration from the Yamaha FZ and the Tork T6X

The motorcycle appears to draw inspiration from the Yamaha FZ and the Tork T6X

  • The KM 4000 will be launched next month.
  • It will be accompanied by a faired version, called the KM 3000.
  • Expect performance equivalent to a 110cc petrol-powered commuter motorcycle.

Ahead of its launch in February, the KM 4000 electric bike from Kabira Mobility has been spotted testing in Goa. The company is a Goa-based electric two-wheeler startup. It participated in Auto Expo 2020 and unveiled its fully faired electric motorcycle, the KM3000.

Coming back to the test mule, its headlamp is oddly similar to the Yamaha FZ-Fi whereas the rest of the body panels seem to be inspired from the Tork T6X electric bike. It is evident from the images of the spied bike that it will be powered by a rear wheel-mounted hub motor linked to a battery pack located under the ‘fuel tank’.

If the bike shares its powertrain with the KM 3000, expect it to come with the same 3kW BLDC hub motor and 3.44kWh lithium-ion battery, offering a claimed range of 85km and a top speed of 80kmph. Expect performance equivalent to that of a 110cc petrol-powered commuter motorcycle, just like the Revolt RV 400.

The electric bike packs sophisticated underpinnings such as an inverted front fork, twin discs up front, and a disc at the rear with a monoshock. If you ask us, the inverted front fork and the twin disc setup feels like a bit of an overkill for a bike of this class. A closer look also reveals a fairly large rectangular instrument cluster, which will be a fully digital unit, likely with smartphone connectivity.

Kabira Mobility will also be launching the KM 3000 alongside the KM 4000 next month. Expect the brand to price the KM 4000 at around Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom) with the only alternative in the electric bike segment being the Revolt RV 400. Kabira Mobility had earlier revealed the price of the KM 3000, Rs 1.13 lakh, but we reckon, it’d be over Rs 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom) factoring in inflation and the various logistical challenges faced in this pandemic-stricken world.
