This wheelchair by Neo Motion packs some innovative tech
Neo Motion, a Chennai-based startup incubated at IIT Madras, has made a really interesting product, a motorcycle wheelchair called the NeoBolt. It is innovative and aimed at making the differently abled more self-reliant and allowing them to move around the city without being dependent on anyone.
The NeoBolt is a machine that can be attached to Neo Motions’ wheelchair called NeoFly, morphing it into a fully functional electric motorcycle. The process of attaching the machine is quite easy and quick, something that can be done by the users themselves. However, the NeoBolt is not compatible with standard wheelchairs as they are not built for rough terrain or faster speeds.
Powering the NeoBolt is a lithium-ion battery pack with a hub motor, however, the specs haven't been disclosed. Neo Motion claims that the electric machine can achieve a top speed of 25kmph and offer a range of 30km on a single charge. The charging time for the battery is about four hours with the charger provided by the company, which is compatible with a three-pin home socket.
Additionally, this wheelchair motorcycle gets a telescopic suspension up front for smoother riding on uneven surfaces and rough terrains. It packs a reverse mode that would be really helpful for its consumers. It also features a digital dashboard with a battery level indicator, a speed limiter, horn, headlight, taillight and side indicators with sound. These features make the NeoBolt a very convenient form of transportation for the differently abled.
This innovation was also aimed to help the differently abled get more employment opportunities. For instance, the motorcycle wheelchair can also be equipped with a cargo carrier that could benefit consumers, opening up job opportunities for them.
The Introductory price for the NeoBolt is Rs 94,900, which includes the cost of the NeoFly wheelchair which is priced at Rs 39,900.
