Norton Motorcycles have revealed all the key specifications for the Atlas, which is the brand’s upcoming adventure bike. It will be available in four variants: Atlas, Atlas Apex, Atlas GT and Atlas GT Apex. The main difference between the Atlas and Atlas GT is that the GT gets a smaller 17-inch front wheel, lower seat height, and lower wheel travel at both ends. All variants of the Norton Atlas will be powered by the same liquid-cooled, parallel-twin motor. At 70PS and 57.5Nm it will be one of the most powerful sub-650cc adventure bikes. This engine will come paired to a 6-speed gearbox, with assist and slipper clutch, and a bidirectional quickshifter as well. That said, for a touring bike, the fuel tank capacity of 15.4-litre is pretty decent.

The Norton Atlas will come with a steel trellis frame, along with fully adjustable KYB inverted fork and rear monoshock. The difference between the Atlas and Atlas GT will be the 40mm lower wheel travel at both ends on the GT variants. Other than this, the GT variant will ride on 17-inch wheels at both ends, and will come with a 30mm lower seat height. All variants will come with a twin disc brake setup at the front, and a single disc at the rear.

The basic features are common across all-variants, however the Apex variants offer additional electronic, convenience and touring friendly features. TPMS, heated grips, hill hold assist and electronic combined braking are some features which are only available with the Apex variant of Atlas GT. Overall, the features list of this adventure bike is quite lengthy, and all these features should make this a more capable and comfortable tourer.

All of these variant wise additions should make the Norton Atlas a more comfortable, and convenient motorcycle to ride. There are all types of adjustability available, and even the foot levers can be adjusted as per the rider’s liking. Other than this, the bike also gets touring friendly additions like two types of bash plates, an aluminum sump guard and even an adjustable windscreen for better wind protection.

Looking at the specifications gives us a rough idea how much potential the upcoming Norton Atlas will have. Once launched in India, it will compete with the Kawasaki Versys 650, which has been a reliable option for road-focused touring. On-paper the Norton makes more power than the Versys, even with a smaller engine, and also offers a long list of features, some which are standard even from the base variant.
That said, the Norton Atlas and Atlas GT is expected to be launched in India in September 2026, and will be priced at around Rs 6 lakh and Rs 6.5 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.
