TVS Climbs To Number 1 Sales Spot In July 2026, Hero Drops to Third
The brand has outsold Hero and Honda for the first time

A landmark achievement for the TVS Motor Company – it has sold more bikes and scooters than Hero and Honda, in July 2026. The latter two brands have been constant leaders, frequently swapping the top 2 places, but have been dethroned by the Hosur-based brand now.

Exports have had a lion’s share in the overall sales figures for TVS. Not only is its Y-o-Y growth impressive, its numbers are drastically more than the other two brands combined.
EV sales

Electric two-wheeler sales have also contributed significantly to TVS’ total sales. The brand has recorded a sales of 60,934 units in July ‘26, which is a 158% Y-o-Y growth. The TVS iQube and the Orbiter are some of the most popular electric scooters in India.
In contrast, Hero hasn’t been able to significantly crack the EV space, and has a sales of 22,714 units. Honda is relatively new to the EV space and hasn’t had success as it would have hoped.
BikeDekho Says
TVS has clearly been able to crack the exports and the electric two-wheeler market. Its domestic sales aren’t too far behind, and are catching up rapidly. All of this should be due to the successful launches. The brand has also commenced deliveries of the popular Apache RTX 300 adventure bike, which have boosted the sales figures. The brand has been quite aggressive with its launches and listening to the market demands – all of which has helped it climb the ranks.
Hero MotoCorp has substantial figures to boast of but still has gaps to fill. The launch of its flex fuel bikes hasn’t had a significant impact, at least not as much as it would have hoped. This is partially due to hesitance in adoption, and the clarity of fuel scenario in the country. Its models like the Splendor, Passion, and Xtreme have a steady demand, but there’s nothing new or exciting that has rekindled interest in the brand. However, Hero has announced a push on segments where it expects significant growth – more products, exclusive dealerships for a premium experience, and more foreign partnerships. All of this should cohesively help the brand reclaim its rank.
Honda is more or less steady with its numbers. Its bread-and-butter models like the Activa and Shine continue to help it maintain its spot. However, Honda hasn’t yet been able to crack the EV segment, but hopes to with the upcoming QC3. It also hasn’t had any significant launches in the past year, but aims to change that in the forthcoming year.
