Jawa 42 Bobber: Explained In Images
The low-slung stance, and premium colour options make this bike quite tempting
The Jawa 42 Bobber is one of the most unique motorcycles currently on sale in India. Unlike traditional retro roadsters, the 42 Bobber is one of the only few bobbers available straight from the factory. Here’s a closer look at the Jawa 42 Bobber through some detailed and high quality images.
Looks
The Jawa 42 Bobber has an authentic bobber design with stretched proportions and a low-slung silhouette. The floating single seat, chopped rear fender and twin slash-cut exhausts give the motorcycle a strong custom-bobber feel straight from the factory. The sculpted fuel tank with tank grips and blacked-out engine components further enhance its road presence.
Unlike many retro motorcycles that simply add cruiser-inspired elements to the design, the 42 Bobber stays visually committed to the classic bobber formula with minimal bodywork and a clean rear section. The bar-end mirrors and chunky tyres also help the bike stand.

Colours
The Jawa 42 Bobber is offered in multiple colour options including Black Mirror, Moonstone White, Mystic Copper and Jasper Red. Depending on the variant, the motorcycle gets a mix of gloss, matte and dual-tone finishes that complement the retro-custom styling quite well.
The darker shades enhance the motorcycle’s blacked-out mechanical components and low-slung silhouette, while the brighter colour schemes help highlight the tank contours and body panels more prominently. The dual-tone options also add a slightly premium visual appeal compared to the simpler single-tone finishes.

Engine And Performance
Powering the Jawa 42 Bobber is a 334cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 29.9PS and 30Nm. The engine comes paired with a 6-speed gearbox along with an assist and slipper clutch. Compared to many retro motorcycles, the engine feels quite rev-happy and lively in the mid-range and top-end of the rpm levels.
In the right gear, the motorcycle provides smooth performance during long rides and heavy traffic conditions, while the sixth gear improves highway cruising comfort. The 42 Bobber can handle highway speeds of 100kmph quite well, making the bike capable of providing a comfortable cruising experience.
The twin exhaust setup is another major highlight. It produces a deep and bass-heavy exhaust note that suits the motorcycle’s custom-inspired personality extremely well.

Features
The Jawa 42 Bobber gets a fully digital LCD instrument console that shows readouts like speed, fuel level, trip details, gear position indicator and distance-to-empty readout. The compact display layout gives the bike a slightly modern touch while still retaining its retro appeal.
The motorcycle also gets all-LED lighting along with additional features like hazard lights, side-stand engine cut-off, pass switch and service due reminders.
However, unlike several neo-retro rivals, the 42 Bobber misses out on Bluetooth connectivity and navigation.

Comfort And Ergonomics
One of the more interesting aspects of the 42 Bobber is its adjustable seat. The seat’s position can be adjusted depending on rider comfort, which is still quite uncommon in this segment. The low 740mm seat height also makes the motorcycle accessible for shorter riders.
The wide handlebar and slightly forward-set footpegs create a relaxed riding posture suited for city rides and occasional highway cruising.

Underpinnings And Other Specifications
The Jawa 42 Bobber’s suspension setup consists of a telescopic fork at the front and a gas-charged monoshock at the rear with 7-step preload adjustability. Braking duties are handled by a disc brake at both ends along with dual-channel ABS as standard.
The bobber has an 18-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel setup with wide tyres, helping improve grip and highway stability. At 185kg kerb weight, the bike also feels relatively agile compared to several larger retro cruisers.

The biggest reason is its appearance. The floating single seat, wide rear tyre and minimalist design made it stand out. I loved the custom bike look straight from the factory. That made me choose this bike. As a solo rider, I find the seat comfortable for daily commute and short to medium highway trips although the suspension is a bit firm on rough roads. As for mileage, it is around 25 to 30 kmpl in normal riding. A solo rider would love this bike for various purposes such as everyday use or short commute or even long road trips in various terrain. The fuel to kilometre capacity is not a problem for me. Considering the current petrol crisis in India, this bike is quite manageable. Read More
