    CarDekho Accolades 2015 Awards Announced

    Renault KWID, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Creta among top cars

     

    CarDekho.com, India’s leading online automobile portal, recently announced the successful conclusion of CarDekho Accolade 2015, its annual user driven auto awards. The categories, representing all segments included new vehicles or facelifts launched in 2015, and top nominated vehicles were selected based on their viewership on CarDekho portal. Amongst cars, Renault Kwid was the runaway leader as the Budget Hatchback of the Year, having received 70% of the votes in the category, while Maruti Suzuki’s Baleno conquered the title of Premium Hatchback of the Year with 49% votes. Maruti Suzuki’s Swift Dzire Facelift emerged victorious as the Sedan of the Year with 34% votes, while the fast growing category of Compact SUV was won by Hyundai Creta which garnered 63% of the votes. 

    Maruti Suzuki produced another winner with Ertiga, which was named MUV of the Year, having secured 67% of the votes in the category. On the other hand, Mahindra XUV 500 swept aside all competition with 77% votes in the SUV of the Year category. The much watched Luxury Sedan of the Year was bagged by Audi A6 as it secured 48% votes, speeding ahead of other cars in the category. 

    The Luxury SUV of the Year award went to Land Rover Discovery Sport with 33% votes, while BMW i8 was named as the Sports & Performance Car of the Year with 36% voters choosing it as their favourite car in the category. Mini Cooper S and Mercedes-Benz A Class facelift saw a neck-to-neck battle for Luxury Hatchback of the Year, but the title was claimed by Mini Cooper S with 30% votes.

    In the two wheeler category, Hero Passion Pro was voted as the Entry Level Bike of the Year with 39% votes, while Honda Activa 3G was voted Scooter of the Year with 52% votes. Bajaj Pulsar AS 200 secured its position as the Executive Bike of the Year with 35%. Bajaj Pulsar RS200 was voted as Premium Bike of the Year, while Kawasaki Ninja H2 was at the users’ choice as the Superbike of the Year.

    The jury award for Car of the Year was awarded to Renault Kwid while the jury selected Mahindra Mojo as the Bike of the Year.

    For CarDekho Accolade, consumers command the ultimate authority to choose the winners via an online voting process, making these awards the current voice of the Indian consumer and also acting as a direct feedback from Indian buyers. 

    Under an audited process, we polled more than 3.7 lakh votes online between Dec’15 and Jan’16. Voters were verified using a unique code sent on their mobile phones via a text message and email. Each consumer was allowed to vote only once within a category.
