These inline-four cylinder motors will power some of the brand’s most popular models

It’s been a very eventful year as far as Benelli and its parent company QJ Motor are concerned, with a lot of new models being unveiled and launched. But in addition to all the new bikes we’ve already seen, the company still has more to come in the near future, and these upcoming bikes are going to be powered by all-new engines too.

Benellis are known for their epic sound, and the best-sounding of the lot are the screaming inline-fours. For the Euro 5/BS6 era, Benelli is working on two new inline-four cylinder engines: a 650cc unit and a 1000cc example. The former could replace the current 600cc inline-four engine, meaning that bikes like the TNT 600 and 600RR will grow into the TNT 650 and 650RR. The slight bump up in displacement should help off-set any loss of output due to more stringent emission norms.

The 1000cc mill will go on to power various different classes of motorcycle from nakeds to sports tourers and even ADVs. There won’t be an all-out 1000cc superbike, but it will power a fully-faired sports tourer akin to a Kawasaki Ninja 1000.

Another interesting detail is that QJ Motor has also tied up with MV Agusta, another Italian bikemaker, and it now owns the rights to the 1,078cc inline-four cylinder motor previously used in the Brutale 1090. This engine was good for 160PS and 100Nm in the Euro 4 era, so it will be quite exciting to see what QJ Motor does with it.
