The Xero and Xero+ are priced at Rs 55,000 and Rs 85,000 respectively (ex-showroom)

Avan Motors, a homegrown electric scooter manufacturer has launched two new scooters in India. Called the Xero and Xero+, the e-scooters are priced at Rs 55,000 and Rs 85,000 respectively (ex-showroom). The company has adapted an unconventional way of delivery. Instead of retailing their products through dealerships, it offers doorstep services for test rides, purchase and servicing of its scooters. These services can be accessed via the company’s website.

Both the scooters feature a conventional design. While the Xero is the firm’s entry-level model, the Xero+ is slightly inclined towards performance. Both scooters get a digital instrument console, safety parking brake, a top box, mobile phone charger slot, LED indicators, three riding modes and panel guards as standard.

The Xero, which boasts a top speed of 25kmph, uses a 250W electric BLDC motor which draws power from a 48V lithium ion battery. It has a range of 70km. On the other hand, the performance-oriented Xero+ gets an 800W electric motor which draws power from dual lithium ion batteries. As a result, it can clock a top speed of 45kmph and has a higher range of 110 km. As claimed by the company, both scooters take four hours for a complete charge. While the Xero can ascend a slope of 6 degrees, the Xero+ has a gradeability of upto 7 degrees.

Both the scooters share the same underpinnings. Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic suspension up front and a single spring-type suspension at the rear. Its braking setup consists of a disc brake at the front and a rear drum brake.

With these launches, Avan now has two products in its portfolio – the Xero and Xero+. As of now, the company only operates in Pune, although it plans to extend its reach to many other cities in India by the end of this year.
