Kawasaki Ninja 650 Overview
The Kawasaki Ninja 650 sits in the middleweight segment as a sport-touring motorcycle that blends sharp looks, with everyday usability. It is well known for offering a balance between performance, and comfort.
Design
For the 2026 model year, the Ninja 650 is offered in a single Lime Green colour option. Its overall styling closely resembles the larger Ninja ZX-10R. The fairing features sharp lines, and angular panels that enhance its sporty appeal. Up front, the motorcycle gets twin LED headlamps, while the indicators are neatly integrated into the side fairings. From the side profile, the exposed lower part of the engine, and the underbelly exhaust stand out visually. The rear section looks sleek and sharp, though its design has remained largely unchanged in recent years.
Kawasaki Ninja 650 Features
Safety Features
In terms of electronics, the Ninja 650 keeps things simple. It comes equipped with dual-channel ABS, and switchable traction control as standard, covering the essential safety requirements.
Convenience Features
The bike features a 4.3-inch TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity. However, it does not offer turn-by-turn navigation. The display includes an ECO riding indicator to help riders maintain fuel-efficient riding habits. That said, target buyers are unlikely to worry about mileage on a bike that costs as much as a premium hatchback car. Overall, the console provides all necessary information but skips advanced features.
Riding Posture & Comfort
Rider Comfort
With a seat height of 790mm, the Ninja 650 should be fairly accessible for most Indian riders. Weighing 196kg (kerb), it should feel manageable for a parallel-twin middleweight motorcycle. Staying true to its sport-touring nature, the bike offers a relaxed riding position, aided by slightly raised clip-on handlebars. You do sit slightly forward leaned, though.
Pillion Comfort
The pillion seat is positioned relatively high, in line with the bike’s sporty design. While it looks good visually, the compact seat size may not be the most comfortable option for longer rides.
Engine & Performance
Powering the Ninja 650 is a 648cc parallel-twin engine that produces 68PS at 8,000rpm and 62.1Nm of torque at 6,700rpm. It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and comes with a slip-and-assist clutch. Although it isn’t the most powerful motorcycle in its class, the engine is praised for its refinement.
City & Highway Performance
In city conditions, the engine should deliver a decent low-end and mid-range performance, good enough for commutes. On the highway, the Ninja 650 should feel equally comfortable, offering stable cruising ability thanks to the fairly powerful engine and aerodynamic design that should keep wind blasts at bay.
Braking Setup
The Ninja 650 comes with twin 300mm disc brakes at the front, along with a 220mm disc at the rear. It has petal discs, which should offer better heat dissipation compared to the conventional ones.
Rivals To Consider
The Kawasaki Ninja 650 goes up against rivals like the Honda CBR650R and the Triumph Daytona 660. Among these, the Ninja 650 is the cheapest option.
Pros & Cons

- Could Be Better
- Gets a powerful and refined 648cc parallel-twin motor
- Comes with a 4.3-inch TFT console, with smartphone connectivity
- Gets styling inspiration from the bigger, Ninja ZX-10R

- Adequate Power + Good Mileage For A Tourer
It could possibly be a good bike for the tourers, especially the ones traveling inter-city or interstate. The bike's comfortable riding position and ergonomic control give the biker the pleasure to be on it while mile-munching on the highways and the bike is equally good on the in-city roads as well. Mileage-wise, the bikes return a comparably better fuel average than similarly priced bikes. But one can also consider the Suzuki GSX S750 for just a tiny buck more. It not only has 2 more cylinders to power itself but it also sports 46PS and a 17Nm surplus of power and torque over the Ninja 650. So the Ninja here is an entry-level adventure tourer where as the S750 is a naked street sports bike that can also be used as a sports tourer but still the Ninja650 will return much better fuel mileage than S750 ever can. Make sure u know what u want before finalizing either of them.Read More
