Hero Cycles has launched its Yamaha-powered electric cycle called the Lectro EHX20 in India. Priced at Rs 1.3 lakh, the cycle is pegged as an adventure e-bike. It gets a detachable battery and a mid-mounted motor sourced from technological partner Yamaha.

According to the brand, the mid-mounted motor on the Lectro EHX20 features three sensors which offer instant and seamless pedal assistance, be it within the city or out in the trails. It draws power from a detachable battery that weighs less than 2kg and can be fully charged in 3.5 hours via a conventional power socket. Once charged, the Lectro EHX20 can delivery a company claimed range of 60-70km on a combination of manual pedalling with battery assist.

Other notable features include a full-digital multifunction display which reads out the battery life, speed, different pedal-assist models, and more! The e-bike uses hydraulic forks and hydraulic disc brakes at both ends. Holding it all together is a hydro-formed frame - the first of its kind on an Indian bicycle.

Hero says India will have around 20 million bicycles by 2023, and about 10% of this pie would come from e-bikes alone. While details about the Lectro EHX20 are scarce, we'll be sure to update this report as soon as we get some clarification from the brand. Until then stay tuned to BikeDekho.
