The company is planning to enter three segments in the country -- personal, institutional and commercial

  • The first electric motorcycle from Revolt is likely to be priced at around Rs 95,000.
  • It will be powered by swappable lithium ion batteries.
  • The company is aiming for 100 per cent localisation by 2020.

Electric mobility is certainly the next big thing and a new electric vehicle manufacturer enters the scene every now and then. The latest one to join this bandwagon is Revolt Motors. The company is going all out with its plans to manufacture electric motorcycles in India. Its manufacturing facility, where its first electric motorcycle for India will be launched, is spread over 1 lakh sq.ft and has a production capacity of 1.2 lakh units. However, in a story published by Autocar Professional, the company has revealed some more details about its future plans.

Revolt is looking for 75 per cent localisation, when it launches its first e-Bike in June 2019. And by the end of 2020, the company is aiming for 100 per cent localisation. This amount of localisation will help the company to price its products quite competitively. In fact, the first offering is expected to cost around Rs 1.2 lakh (ex-showroom), but after considering the subsidy that it will get due to FAME II scheme, the price may come down to Rs 95,000. If Revolt launches the e-Bike at that price, it will go up against one of the best petrol-powered motorcycles out there, the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, which is priced at Rs 98,785 (ex-showroom Delhi).

The first offering from Revolt will be loaded with features. For starters, it will receive over the air (OTA) updates via an integrated 4G SIM, combined braking system, swappable batteries and more. As of now, the top speed has been capped at 85kmph and Revolt claims that the electric motorcycle will have a range of 150km.

However, Revolt is planning to offer more than one electric vehicle in India. The company plans to enter three segments – personal, institutional and commercial – with different motors with nominal power up to 4.5kW with a 45A controller.
