Mahindra to enter in motorcycle segment soon

India's largest SUV manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra is planning to enter in the Motorcycle segment in India by the year 2010. "We would like to be an end-to-end player in the two-wheeler segment, launching scooters and motorcycles," said Sanjay Mittal, vice-president of sales and customer care of the company. Mahindra & Mahindra already launched a gear less scooter in India and the model is recieving a good response. Currently there are three gear less scooters are there under the Mahindra portfolio named as Mahindra Rodeo and Duro and Mahindra Flyte. According to the company the Mahindra group manag to sell 7000 units of its gear less scooters last month. Mahindra & Mahindra is expected to utilize its Madhya Pradesh manufacturing facility though it has to made some additions to machines of this plant. According to the company after these modifications the plant will be able to produce 4 lakh units annually. In Addition to this the Mahindra group is planning to expend its dealer base in India. It is planning to increase number of its dealers from 325 to 375 in coming months.
