Hero Vida VX2 Battery Plans And Prices Explained

You’ll only spend about Rs 1,000 per month if your daily riding distance is less than 25km

Hero MotoCorp launched the Vida VX2 in India a couple of days ago. The e-scooter is offered in two variants and its prices start from Rs 59,490 for the Go Variant with BaaS (Battery As A Service), and the Plus variant of the scooter with BaaS costs Rs 64,990. So, If you are planning to buy a Vida VX2, here’s an overview of the BaaS (Battery As A Service) scheme:

For both the variants, the BaaS scheme is offered in multiple plans. Here are the details of the plans along with pricing and distance coverage: 

Comparatively, if you assume a mileage of around 45kmpl on a Honda Activa 110, and a per-litre cost of petrol at Rs 100, and the same 25km-per-day distance, you’ll end up paying around Rs 1,666 per month on fuel, which is over Rs 600 more than what you’d pay for using the VX2 Go. Note that the Activa 110 costs Rs 81,045 (ex-showroom Delhi), which is Rs 21,555 more than the cost of the VX2 Go with the BaaS scheme. In case you exceed the monthly kilometre limit of the chosen plan, worry not as the brand also offers specific overcharge rates. 

What is BaaS (Battery As A Service)?

In the BaaS scheme, the Vida VX2 is available for sale at a much lower price point and customers have to pay just for the chassis of the scooter upfront. The cost of the battery is to be paid by the customer to the company in installments every month depending on the usage plan the customer chooses. Though the customer has ownership of the scooter as a whole (chassis and battery included), the scooter will be hypothecated to the financier.

When the pre-specified kilometers or the financing plan ends, the Vida VX2’s financier hypothecation would be removed and the customer will become the sole owner. The first owners can opt out of the Baas plan by foreclosing the financial scheme they have chosen. But, do note that the BaaS scheme cannot be transferred to a subsequent owner and the first owner will have to pay up and clear all the dues under the relevant financing plans to sell the scooter.

In case the customer opts to pay the full price of the scooter as a whole (including the battery and chassis), the Go costs Rs 99,490 and Plus is Rs 1,09,990 (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
