Bajaj Chetak 3501 Explained: The Most Premium Chetak Yet

With more tech, better performance and a premium feel throughout, the Chetak 3501 is Bajaj’s most feature-packed electric scooter yet

The Bajaj Chetak has steadily become one of the more polished offerings in the electric scooter segment. And sitting right at the top of the new 35 series lineup is the Chetak 3501, the most premium and feature-loaded version currently on sale.

Unlike the more affordable 3503, which focuses on practicality, or the balanced 3502, the 3501 goes all-in on offering a richer overall experience. It gets extra tech, better convenience features, quicker charging and a more premium equipment list while retaining the solid build quality the Chetak range is known for. So if you’re considering the flagship Chetak and wondering what exactly makes it special, here’s a detailed look at what the 3501 brings to the table.

Price

The Bajaj Chetak 3501 is priced at Rs 1,47,507 (ex-showroom). That makes it the most expensive scooter in the Chetak 35 range, sitting above both the 3502 and 3503 variants. Naturally, Bajaj has packed it with additional features and premium touches to justify the higher price tag.

Design

At first glance, the Chetak 3501 doesn’t look dramatically different from the other variants, and that’s intentional. Bajaj has chosen to stick with the same elegant retro styling that has become one of the scooter’s biggest strengths.

The rounded headlamp, flowing body panels, clean tail section and simple silhouette give it a timeless appearance that feels classy rather than flashy. It’s the kind of scooter that looks premium without trying too hard to appear futuristic. And like the rest of the lineup, the 3501 continues with the all-metal body construction. In an electric scooter market filled with plastic-heavy designs, this gives the Chetak a more substantial and durable feel. The panel quality and fit-and-finish also feel noticeably solid.

The scooter is available in multiple colour options: Indigo Metallic, Hazel Nut, Pista Green, Racing Red, and Brooklyn Black. The richer paint finishes and subtle detailing further add to the premium appeal of the scooter.

Features

This is where the Chetak 3501 really starts separating itself from the lower variants. The scooter gets a fully-digital TFT touchscreen console with integrated navigation and smartphone connectivity. The display looks modern, sharp and far more sophisticated than the simpler units on the other variants.

Feature highlights include:

  • Turn-by-turn navigation

  • Music control

  • Call and SMS alerts

  • Smartphone connectivity

  • Sequential indicators

  • Keyless unlock system

  • Reverse mode

  • Hill hold assist

  • Geo-fencing

  • Over-speed alerts

  • Ride analytics

  • Theft alerts

  • Remote immobilisation

The 3501 also gets app-based connected features that allow riders to monitor the scooter remotely and access ride data through their smartphone.

Another major highlight is the massive 35-litre underseat storage space, which remains one of the biggest practical advantages of the new Chetak platform. Overall, the feature list feels modern and comprehensive without becoming unnecessarily complicated.

Safety & Hardware

The Chetak 3501 rides on 12-inch alloy wheels fitted with tubeless tyres and gets telescopic front suspension along with a rear monoshock. The setup is tuned primarily for comfort and urban usability. For braking duties, the scooter comes equipped with a front disc brake and a rear drum brake along with CBS (Combined Braking System). The braking system feels sufficient enough for the scooter.

Motor, Performance & Range

Powering the Chetak 3501 is a 3.5kWh battery pack paired with an electric motor tuned for smooth urban performance. The scooter offers a claimed IDC range of 153km on a single charge, making it practical enough for daily commuting as well as longer city runs without constant range anxiety.

Its claimed top speed stands at 80kmph, which makes it noticeably more capable than the entry-level 3503, especially on open urban roads and flyovers. One important advantage the 3501 gets is faster charging support. Bajaj claims a 0-80 percent charging time of around 3 hours using the fast charger, which improves day-to-day convenience significantly.

Our Take

The Bajaj Chetak 3501 feels less like a basic commuter and more like a premium urban mobility solution. Yes, it costs noticeably more than the lower variants, but it also delivers the most complete experience in the lineup. The additional features, faster charging, better tech package and overall premium feel genuinely make the scooter feel more upmarket.

What also works in its favour is that Bajaj hasn’t compromised on the fundamentals. The metal body, mature design, comfortable ride quality and practical range continue to remain core strengths of the scooter. The Chetak 3501 may not be the sportiest electric scooter in the segment, nor the flashiest. But it feels polished, refined and thoughtfully designed; qualities that many everyday buyers may value far more in the long run.
