Overview
The Hero Duet sports a metal body and is designed to fit perfectly in the unisex scooter segment for individuals craving a more masculine option than Hero Pleasure. The automaker has focused on each design detailing and crafted a sophisticated and sleek styling for the scooter, which distinguishes it from the bulky design of Hero Maestro Edge. The elegant body of Hero Duet draws power from the 110.9cc air-cooled, 4-stroke single cylinder engine unit that is capable of producing 8bhp @ 7500 rpm and 8.7Nm @ 5750rpm worth of max. torque. The engine is optimized to yield a decent practical mileage figure of 63kmpl (claimed) and a top speed of 85kmph. The scooter comes in two variants – Duet LX and Duet VX models and 5 colour options. The scooter is integrated with Hero Integrated Braking System that activates both rear and front drum brake units simultaneously on pressing the rear brake lever. Further, supporting a comfortable ride experience are the front telescopic fork suspension and rear hydraulic shock absorbers. The scooter retails from Rs 47,945 (Ex showroom, Delhi) onwards and is an affordable option as compared to its competitors that include- Honda Activa 4G, Yamaha Alpha, TVS Jupiter and Hero Maestro Edge.
Design
Drenched in a quality paint finish, the Hero Duet scooter flaunts a particularly neat styling with each design element having defined edges. Complimenting the neat styling is the metallic body of the scooter. Hero Duet sports an elegant front design with some flowing lines, stylish headlamps, and the chrome-finished V-shaped element. The chrome highlights on the front and the side body, and the 3D chrome ‘Duet’ badging together add to the elegant stance of the gearless scooter.
Hero Duet features multi-reflector and dual-tone rear-view mirrors. The simple yet sophisticated styling of the scooter is accentuated with a tidy analogue instrument cluster featuring digital odometer. The uncomplicated console sports a segment-first side stand indicator. With this, Hero has followed a smart designing approach to offer an external fuel cap and a USB 3.0 charging port under the seat.
The scooter is dimensioned to feature a wheelbase of 1245mm and a ground clearance of 155mm. Hero Duet comes in 5 appealing color options that include – Candy Blazing Red, Pearl Silver White, Grace Grey, Matte Vernier Grey, Panther Black.
Features
Promising you a commendable stability and smooth ride quality, the Duet is assisted by 130 mm drum brake units resting on the front and rear wheels. These brake units make up for safe riding and efficient braking in coordination to the Hero Integrated Braking System. This system enables simultaneous application of rear and front brakes for stable braking performance. Added as a mandatory feature is the AHO (Auto Headlamp On) unit, under which the vehicle’s headlight remains ON, even at daytime, for better visibility.
Engine, Mileage & Performance
Hero Duet is powered by a 110.9cc air cooled, 4-stroke single cylinder SOHC (Single Overhead Camshaft) engine. This engine churns a maximum power output of 8bhp at 7500 rpm and a peak torque of 8.7Nm at 5500 rpm. The power produced by this mill is transmitted to the V-matic drive. This engine is calibrated well to boast a claimed mileage of 63kmpl and a top speed of 85kmph. The same engine unit powers both the VX and LX variant of the scooter.
Handling & Ride Quality
Offering a reliable road grip to Hero Duet scooter are the front and rear 90/100-R10 tyres. These ensure you to confidently maneuver through dense city roads and narrow shortcuts. The scooter is assisted with telescopic fork suspension in the front, while the rear gets hydraulic shock absorbers. The suspension units easily negotiate potholes and speed bumps that are typical to Indian roads.
The scooter comes fitted with 130 mm drum brake assembly fitted on both ends and is integrated with Hero Integrated Braking System that activates both front and rear brakes to feature effective braking when the rear brake lever is pressed.
