VRM Springs Italian Suspension Maker Marzocchi Back to Life

Famous Italian motorcycle suspension manufacturer Marzocchi is in safe hands now as automotive giant VRM is all set to take over it from its present owner Tenneco. According to an online report, Marzocchi was about to shut shop because its parent company Tenneco was planning to close down the business. The news of its take-over comes as a respite to 70 employees of Marzocchi, who would have otherwise lost their jobs, states a media report. Tenneco was already under preparations for the liquidation of Marzocchi with $27 million to be spent on final closure proceedings.

However, the local regulatory body of Bologna and the company's labour union interjected this plan, saving Marzocchi from a shutdown. VRM, the company that bought the suspension maker is an Italian automotive company dealing in parts for BMW, Ducati and MV Agusta. The company is located in Bologna region of Zola Predosa, Italy. VRM’s current parts catalogue does not include suspension components, and the company develops other components including metal parts, chassis and engine components. After acquiring Marzocchi, VRM will expand to a new segment of the motorcycle industry. VRM had made plans to take over the suspension manufacturer back in July 2015, but only in the past few days, a news of this acquisition came to light, with several automotive portals reporting it.

Though the details of this deal have not been confirmed by the company, the information is making rounds on the internet and it seems like the company will publicly wave the green flag soon. We hope to see more Marzocchi offerings in coming time, as many brands only utilise the Italian company’s suspension components. Marzocchi’s manufacturing facility is located just a few miles away from the headquarters of Borgo Panigale and Ducati.
