Qubit X1 And X2 Foldable E-bikes Launched

Bengaluru-based startup Coppernicus Mobility has launched its range of foldable e-bikes, dubbed the Qubit, aimed at replacing your conventional commuter. There are two models on offer: X1 priced at Rs 52,490 and X2 at Rs 69,990.

The base model, Qubit X1, runs on a 36V 5.2Ah battery that promises a range of 30km in pedal assist mode. This battery is paired with a 250W hub motor that propels the e-bike to a top speed of 25kmph. Qubit has equipped the X1 with 16-inch wheels at both ends. It’s also fairly light, tipping the scale at 15.5kg with the battery.

The Qubit X2 is 3kg heavier than the X1, courtesy the 20-inch wheels. It shares its battery and motor with the base model but offers a range of 35km in pedal assist mode. Unlike the X1, which is a single-speed e-bike, the X2 comes with a 7-speed Shimano gearbox. Both models share the Shimano disc brake setup, though. The Qubit e-bikes come with an impressive set of features too.

The problem with foldable e-bikes is the quick release battery packs but Qubit has worked around it by placing the battery in the seat stalk. Yes, all you need to do is carry the stalk and charge it. The e-bikes are equipped with an LCD console that shows all the basic information and allows you to toggle through five riding modes: Cruise, Throttle, PAS (Pedal Assist System), Pedal and Walk. While some modes are common in most e-bikes, the Cruise and Walk modes are rather unique. The former works in autopilot, allowing the rider to cruise at a constant speed while the latter limits the speed to 6kmph, minimising effort when walking with the e-bike.

The Qubit X1 and X2 come with a flash lamp, front light, toolkit, reflectors, and a kickstand. These are 95 percent assembled e-bikes that can be purchased online. Copernicus is also offering a bunch of accessories, including a front basket, rear rack, high-capacity battery pack, and a range extender that can take the range up to 120km.

The Qubit X1 and X2 lock horns with the Emotorad Doodle (formerly called Karbon) priced at Rs 75,990. The e-bike comes with front suspension and offers more range than the Qubit duo. To know more about the Emotorad e-bike, read our first ride review here.
