The production version of the radical-looking Benda LF-01 Concept doesn’t look too different

There are two variants: Standard and High Power.  Apart from making more power and torque, the higher-end variant also gets Brembo calipers as opposed to Nissin units in the base variant. The bike also retains the massive 310-section rear tyre from the concept.

After unveiling the radical-looking Benda LF-01 Concept at the CIMA show (China International Motorcycle Trade Exhibition) last year, the Chinese brand has now launched the production version in the country. Called the Benda LFC700, the production iteration thankfully looks every bit as show-stopping as the concept.

What’s more, the manufacturer has launched the bike in two variants: Standard and High-power. The former is priced at CNY 45,800 (around Rs 5.26 lakh), whereas the latter is pegged at CNY 46,800 (about Rs 5.38 lakh).

The two variants share the same 680cc inline-four liquid-cooled engine working in conjunction with a six-speed transmission, linked to a chain drive. The Standard produces 85.6PS at 10,000rpm and 60Nm at 8000rpm, whereas the High Power makes 93.8PS at 11,000rpm and 63Nm at 8500rpm. The claimed top speed stands at 170kmph for the base variant and 195kmph for the higher-end version.

Apart from being more powerful and torquier, the High Power variant also gets a slipper clutch. Unlike the concept, the production version does not get ride-by-wire throttle and cruise control, presumably to keep costs low. The two get a massive 20-litre fuel tank, making them great choices for touring.

While the Standard employs an inverted front fork and a rear monoshock, the High Power variant gets the same units but are KYB-branded. The brakes are different too. The higher-end variant gets Brembo calipers with twin discs up front and a single disc at the rear. The Standard uses Nissin calipers. Of course, a dual-channel ABS is standard.

The company has retained the massive 310mm rear radial tyre. This goes well with the equally meaty 130-section front rubber. At 235kg kerb, the cruiser is quite heavy, but the low 695mm seat should help in maneuvering through tight spots. As expected from a modern cruiser, the motorcycle gets an all-LED lighting system and a full-TFT instrument cluster with navigation.

Expect Benda to launch the motorcycle in other countries like Spain, United Kingdom, and Portugal in the coming months. Even though it’s a Chinese brand, the Benda LFC700 will have the distinction of being the most unique-looking modern cruiser in its segment.
