Overview

Bajaj Discover has always been a lead player in the extremely competitive commuter segment. Through the years, Bajaj Autos has launched various emphasis of the bike with several engine displacements, ranging from 100 to 135cc. Last year, the manufacturer has brought the newest and most powerful addition in this lineup, i.e., Discover 150F, that sits at the top of the range. It has been introduced with three variants: 150 Drum, 150 Disc and 150F. The 150F gets the new partial front fairing in addition with new colors and graphics. It is a commuter motorcycle based on the new generation platform although it can be marketed as a sportier bike as well.

The all new commuter bike receives a signature sinewy tank along with a modern stepped LED tail lights that enhance its looks. Further, it features impassive tail-piece, mudguard, alloy wheels, LED tail lights and comfortable long seat. The instrument cluster consists of digital trip meters, fuel gauge and service due indicator along with the conventional analog speedometer.

Bajaj Discover 150F is got its power from a 144.8cc, 4-stroke, single cylinder, air-cooled, two-valve, a DTS-i engine that belts out an impressive power of 14.3 BHP at 8500 rpm and a peak torque of 12.75 Nm at 6500 rpm. The motor comes mated to a five-speed gearbox and uses Wet Multi Plate clutch that makes the ride smoother and gear shifting easier. It has a 130mm telescopic fork travel as its front suspension and 110mm mono shock nitrox with gas filled shock absorbers as its rear suspension. The machine comes to halt with the help of 240mm petal disc brake as optional at the front and 130mm drum brake at the rear. The braking system of the machine gets a 240mm optional disc brake at the front and 130mm drum brakes at both the ends as standard.

Design

Bajaj Discover 150 F is one of the most sporty and aggressive machines in the whole  Discover lineup. As it employs large semi-fairing and stunning headlamp section that makes it look alike a premium entry-level sports bike. The front fascia comes with an edgy headlamp followed by clear lens turn blinkers. The fuel tank of the bike is crafted nicely to remain in sync with the half fairing and the combination of both offers a remarkable visual to the machine. The bike features a wider and comfortable seat that gives enough comfort to the rider as well as pillion even on long distance rides. It comes wrapped in an all-black theme that further intensify its overall looks quite massively. At the rear end, it sports an elegant tail lamp that enhances the overall style quotient well and gives a high-end visual to the machine.

Held together by a semi double cradle frame, Bajaj Discover 150 F has the following body dimensions: 2038 mm in length, 714 mm in width, 1070 mm in height. A wheelbase of 1305 mm offers superb handling even in the tightest city traffic. Moreover, it has a minimum ground clearance of 165mm that promises agile handling around the corners. Besides this, it has been fitted with a fuel tank of 10-liter capacity that returns a good amount of mileage. Bajaj Discover 150F is brought to life with the help of an electric or kick-started, 144.8cc, four-stroke, OHC, air-cooled engine that comes coupled to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox. The mill is capable enough for producing a peak power of 14.3bhp at 8500 rpm along with a net torque of 12.75 Nm at 6500 rpm. The BS26 carburetor mill comes aided with Bajaj-signature DTS-i with ExhausTEC technology that ensures a better combustion resulting in an overall superior performance of the bike. The motor has a bore x stroke ratio of 56mm x 58.8mm that offers a well-balanced amount of power and torque. With this setup, the motorcycle can achieve a top speed of 110 kmph and returns a decent combined mileage of 60 kmpl.

Discover 150F rides on 80/100-17 front and 100/90-17 rear sticky tubeless tyres that are further encircled over elegant black alloy wheels. The bike slows down with the help of durable 130mm drum brakes fitted at both, front and rear ends. The braking system becomes more responsive as it incorporates a 240mm petal disc brake at the front as an optional feature.     It is a good bike with a stable ride and comfort. It is a decent bike for the city as well as outstation rides. Enough power and a long seat for 3 people are also good.
