Overview
Marking its entry into the segment of premium-class scooters, Yamaha launched Fascino as its most premium scooter for individuals craving top-notch performance and up-market finish. The scooter also came as the fourth offering from Yamaha in the scooter segment after Yamaha Ray Z, Ray ZR, and Alpha. The flowing lines and the retro styling that runs across its body, has earned the scooter a wide popularity among youngsters, making it a cash cow in a small span of time. Working smartly on its design part, the Japanese manufacturer has made the scooter sport an appealing retro-neo styling that distinguishes it from its competitors.
Along with the styling, Yamaha Fascino also offers a well-calibrated performance owing to its 113cc single-cylinder Blue Core engine unit that produces 7bhp and 8.1Nm worth of power and torque respectively. This engine is mated to V-belt automatic transmission that promises seamless power transmission to the tubeless 90/100-10 53J sticky tyres of the scooter. Yamaha Fascino is engineered well to yield a high fuel efficiency of 66kmpl. The scooter depends on front and rear 130mm drum brakes for its handling, while the riding comfort is met by the front telescopic fork and rear unit swing monoshock suspension. The stylish scooter comes at a price of Rs 54,593 (Ex showroom, Delhi) and stands abreast its competitors, including – Honda Activa 4G, TVS Jupiter and Hero Maestro Edge.
Design
Yamaha has given a distinguished retro treatment to Fascino. The smooth aerodynamic lines and the curvaceous body elements yield the scooter an appealing and elegant look. Yamaha has used the chrome highlights smartly to give you a hint at its quality-focused design. Yamaha Fascino displays a sophisticated front design with eye-shaped headlights, chrome grille, and sleek indicators.
The chrome-touched wing mirrors of the scooter accentuate its neo-retro design theme. The retro-styled analogue instrument console is sure to catch your attention as soon as you take your eyes off its curvy sidelines. The edgy tailpiece and the rear body dynamics compliments to the overall design of the scooter.
The black mettle plastic finish goes harmoniously with its glossy paint and the chrome finished highlights. The scooter features a wide and well-padded seat that has been designed to offer a great sitting comfort to the rider and pillion. Some distinguished design features like the cubby hole near the key fob and the elongated exhaust reveal the efforts taken by Yamaha to craft a perfect design for the scooter.
Features
The new Yamaha Fascino models come integrated with the AHO (Automatic Headlamp ON) feature that is a mandatory feature for all two-wheelers since April 2017 in India. The feature makes sure that the headlights of the vehicle always stay in an On-mode, irrespective of the time of the day, to ensure a good sight of the road. With this, the 130 mm drum brake assembly sitting on both ends of the scooter, ensures a reliable bite and braking performance. However, the need for a disc brake variant is felt.
Engine, Mileage & Performance
Tried and tested for its efficiency and performance, the mill that powers Yamaha Fascino is a 113cc, air-cooled, single cylinder, 4-stoke Blue Core engine, which is the same as on the other scooter offerings from Yamaha. This mill makes up for a decent maximum power of 7bhp at 7500rpm and a maximum torque of 8.1Nm at 5000rpm. With this, it is attended with high-ignitability nickel spark plug and the Blue Core technology to yield an impressive mileage of between 60 to 66 kmpl. The engine mates with the V-belt automatic transmission and has a top speed of 85kmph.
Handling & Ride Quality
Yamaha Fascino is a light weight and agile scooter fitted with tubeless 90/100-10 53J sticky tyres on both ends. These MRF Zapper tyres flaunt an efficient road grip and make cornering swift and stable. Serving the braking duties for the scooter are the front and rear 130 mm drum brakes that promise an effective braking performance. However, disc brake could have been provided as an option. The scooter features a long wheelbase. The suspension assembly that adds to the ride comfort consists of telescopic forks at the front and unit swing shock absorbers at the rear end.
