    Overview

    Overall

With the launch of TVS Jive in India, the country became the nation who has clutchless bikes in it. TVS Motors, the third largest two-wheeler maker in India, recently introduced India's and its first clutchless bike in India-TVS Jive. The bike was launched after the great success of TVS Flame SR 125 and TVS Apache RTR 180 in India. The power mill of 110cc generates a peak power of 8.4 bhp at 7,500 rpm and maximum torque of 8.3 Nm at 5,500 rpm. TVS Motors already has an automatic clutch bike, TVS Neo, in Indonesia and it used the same technology here. The bike is loaded with its innovative technology T-Matic that allows gear shifting without manual effort. The main features of the bike comprises of under seat storage space (first time in an Indian bike), handsfree gearshift, gear indicator and four speed transmission. The bike is priced at Rs 41,000 (ex-showroom, Chennai). The bike has been equipped with another innovative feature-anti-stall mechanism that ensure smooth riding even at lower speeds without shutting off the engine. The TVS Jive can also be started at any gear that means you need not to care about neutral mode when about to start the bike for a ride.

The bike has been equipped with another innovative feature-anti-stall mechanism that ensure smooth riding even at lower speeds without shutting off the engine. The TVS Jive can also be started at any gear that means you need not to care about neutral mode when about to start the bike for a ride.

TVS has come up with a very special bike which is targeted to both men and women as it comes with clutchless system. It's under seat storage space is a new thing added to it that might challenge gearless scooters in India due to its two systems-handsfree gearshifting and underseat storage. However, gearless scooters in India are provided with more storage space. TVS Jive features alloy wheels and electric start. The T-Matic and anti-stall mechanism gives an advantage to the bike as well. The anti-stall mechanism ensures no power loss even at lower speeds and riding will be the same in every gear. Now in the new bike, one need not to change gear manually as it is blessed with T-Matic technology. The technology is already proved in TVS Neo in Indonesia.

    Mileage/ Average/ Fuel Economy

    TVS Jive
comes with a larger fuel tank that can house 12 litre of fuel with two litres of reserve. The bike is supposed to give a mileage of around 60-70 kmpl. The handsfree gearshifting also saves a little fuel and enhance fuel economy. However, there is no comment on fuel efficiency by company side.

    Colours

The new bike from TVS, TVS Jive, comes in three attractive colours such as black, blue and red with eye-catching graphics on it. Graphics are pasted at fuel tank and side panels. The body colour is sprayed at side panels, petrol tank,m front cowl, rear side panels and front mudguard. However, rear grab rail and rear view mirrors are not having the body colour. Rest of the bike is painted in black and silencer's heat shield is in silver hue.

    Acceleration and Pick up

The bike comes loaded with a four stroke, air cooled engine with a displacement of 110cc. Due to T-matic technology and anti-stall mechanism, there is no need to shift gear and use gear so the mileage will be better and acceleration to be smart. It has a nice pick-up and goes smooth in traffic.

    Appearance

TVS Jive is a commuter bike and the appearance suggest it clearly. However, the machine is equipped with some of the sporty features such as black alloy wheels, stunning graphics and good looking instrument panel.

The front face of the bike is awesome that looks like any sports bike. A large wind screen is provided on the cowl. The round shaped turn indicator looks very sexy. The body paint is there on half front mudguard, fuel tank, side panels and rear side panels. The rear view mirrors and grab rail is not painted in the body colour. However, body colour rear view mirror would change the face of the wonder bike. The instrument panel is comprised of two-dial pods. The right side pod of the console houses the gear indicator. While other indicators like fuel gauge, speedo and other general indicators are also there for your convenience.

The bike is painted with light shade graphics but eye-catching. TVS logo is pasted at a couple of parts of the machine such as wind screen, fuel tank and at tail side. Whereas the Jive sticker is pasted at the rear side panels.

The seat of the bike is wide and looks comfortable. The seating area for the passenger is slightly step-up for comfy riding experience. The rear grab bar looks charming in black as it matches with the seat cover colour. The tail side cowl is having the razor sharp style and adds to the stylish looks of the bike. The silencer of the TVS Jive comes in long size with a silver colour heat shield.

    Comfort

The first of its kind bike has several unique features in it. In the list of the innovative features include under seat storage where you can put your umbrella, water bottle and other bike related documents. This is for the first time that a bike has got that much of space. Other than this, the bike is blessed with self start for instant starting. You can also start the bike in any gear without coming on neutral mode. That means you need not to change gears in a specified manner instead directly you can come to neutral from the fourth gear. And the most important one is handsfree gearshifting that allows every rider to try his or her hands on the bike. Even women rider can go for it as it is just like a scooty. Footpegs and passenger footrest add to the comfort of the rider and passenger.

    Dimensions

The overall dimension of TVS Jive are length-1975mm, height-1060mm and width 700mm. The ground clearance of the machine is 165mm and wheelbase is 1260mm. The saddle height of the bike is 780mm. The bike sports single cradle type frame which support the bike with most rigidity.

    Engine Capacity and Performance

The powerful engine of the bike develops a peak power of 8.4 bhp at 7,500 and churns a maximum torque of 8.3 Nm at 5500 rpm. The bike has 4 speed automatic transmission without using the clutch lever. The machine has got a unique technology, T-matic clutch, that provides the rider the facility to shift gears without operating the clutch lever manually. Apparently, the clutch lever will not be the entity of the machine. Apart from this feature, the bike has an interesting mechanism that is anti stall mechanism. It promises hassle free riding experience even at lower gears without the powertrain shutting off. And a very cool feature which might attract everyone that is starting in any gear. In other words, one need not to worry about proper gear mode when to start the bike as it can be started in any gear whether in neutral or fourth. Self start option also adds to the comfort and style.

Like the braking system, TVS Jive is blessed with efficient shockers. The standard suspensions the machine are smart enough to absorb the jolt from potholes. The front tyre of the bike is attached with telescopic type of shocker while the rear suspension is a hydraulic shock absorber with coaxial springs.

    Handling and Control

Handling and control become much easier in the TVS Jive with the efficient braking system and shock absorbers. The bike incorporates conventional drum type brakes at both end. The front and rear brake comes in 110 mm dia that has become standard for and entry-level bike in India. These drum type brakes work their duty with utmost efficiency when used along with slight push of hand brake. In addition to this, the TVS Jive possesses wider wheelbase which also ensure better stability and grip on road. Wider wheelbase saves you from skidding.
