    Expert Review

    BikeDekho Experts
The Numeros Diplos Max can be a good companion for families, small business owners, and delivery partners, looking to buy a practical electric scooter for everyday city rides. The e-scootyer can carry goods easily. However, its small underseat storage is in contrast with the scooter’s practicality and might even be a deal breaker for many people.

    Overview

Numeros Diplos Max is the latest offering from the Bengaluru-based EV manufacturer. The scooter comes with rugged and practical looks, a digital instrument cluster and more. We got a chance to ride the electric scooter on different terrains from paved roads to off-road and here’s how it turned out to be:

    Design

The Numeros Diplos Max has a unique and boxy design. It has an apron-mounted round LED headlight, a small tail light and bike-like indicators. The e-scooter gets a split seat setup, with a small underseat storage under the rider's seat. While the looks of the scooter won’t appeal to youngsters, it is more leaned towards commercial and family use. It is available in three colours: Crimson Red Sonic Silver and Cosmos Blue Grey.

    Features

The Numeros Diplos Max has all-LED lighting along with an LCD instrument console. The display is clearly readable, even under the harsh sunlight. It just shows basic information including speedometer, odometer, battery level, range and other tell-tale lights, but misses out on smartphone connectivity, making it a simple and easy-to-ride scooter.

    Numeros Diplos Max

However, the underseat storage is very small and can only fit a half-face helmet and a pair of gloves. It has a main power button inside the boot which turns off the battery connection and saves power when parked for a long time. However, there was some bug in using these features and when we left the scooter’s ignition on for about 8-10 minutes, the scooter would refuse to start unless you turned the power button off and on again, which was really annoying.

    Riding Posture & Comfort

The Diplos Max comes with a spacious and well-padded split-seat setup, keeping both rider and pillion comfortable. Being a typical everyday scooter, it offers a relaxed and upright posture. It has a spacious floorboard and an extra pair of footrests on the sides, which can be used by the rider when carrying goods on the floorboard.

    Engine, Mileage & Performance

The Diplos Max is equipped with a hub-mounted motor that makes 2.67kW and 138Nm. With a smooth power delivery, it has a claimed top speed of 63km, enough power for everyday commutes in the city. Sometimes there is a half a second delay in throttle response when accelerating the scooter from a standstill. However, the throttle response is quick enough when you accelerate it on the move.

    Numeros Diplos Max

The Diplos Max has 2 ride modes: Eco and Normal. The Eco mode focuses on increasing the range. Whereas, the Normal mode offers better power and a lesser range. It also has a reverse mode, but that felt too weak while we tried using it on the off-road. The Diplos Max gets two 1.85kWh lithium-ion battery packs, providing a total battery capacity of 3.7kWh. The e-scooter has a 140km IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) range in Eco mode, translating to a real-world range of 90-100km on a single charge. The Diplos Max charges from 0 to 100 percent in 3 to 4 hours using a 1.2kW charger.

    Handling & Ride Quality

As a family scooter, the Numeros Diplos Max handles well on both tarmac and off-road. The e-scooter offers a good ride quality, especially on bad roads. Its suspension setup absorbs most bumps and potholes efficiently, keeping the rider and the pillion comfortable. With chunky 12-inch wheels and a generous ground clearance of 150mm, it rides smoothly on broken roads and off-road.

Should you buy Numeros Diplos Max

The Numeros Diplos Max is a practical and rugged scooter, good for everyday use, especially when riding on Indian roads. The e-scooter offers sufficient power and range for day-to-day city commutes and keeps you comfortable when riding on bad and broken roads. The Diplos Max could be a good option for small business owners, delivery partners and even families, who want a practical electric scooter for daily commutes in the city, which can also carry some goods easily. But the small underseat storage could be a deal breaker for many people, as it robs off its practicality.

It is equipped with two 1. 85kWh lithium-ion battery packs, giving it a total capacity of 3. 7kWh. This provides an IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) range of 140km on a single charge. Charging the scooter from 0 to 100 percent takes 3 to 4 hours using a 1. 2kW charger.
