This sporty scooter gets something only seen in cars!

    Coming to India soon

    Quick Highlights

    • Has two-variants: 125cc & 180cc

    • Will launch on September 25

    • Could have a premium price

VLF has officially announced that the Mobster sporty scooter range is coming to India. The VLF Mobster has two engine variants, and everything but the engine is the same in them. The scooter looks quite futuristic and sporty. That tall windscreen looks quite cool though, complemented by the exposed handlebar.

    India launch soon

But it’s the scooter’s specifications that speak louder than its design. It can either be had with a 12PS, 11.7Nm 125cc engine or an 18PS, 15.7Nm, 180cc motor (both liquid-cooled). Though that’s not all, the scooter has some chunky tyres as well – 120-section front and 130-section rear – on 12-inch wheels with disc brakes & dual-channel switchable ABS. Other specs include a telescopic fork, dual rear shocks, an 8-litre fuel tank, 797mm seat height, and 155mm ground clearance.

The scooter has a claimed top speed of 100kmph on the Mobster 125, and 110kmph on the Mobster 180. To put it in perspective, the Yamaha Aerox 155 did 110kmph (VBox verified) in our real-world tests, and that’s 3PS less powerful than the Mobster 180. Other equipment includes LED lights, 5-inch TFT colour console with mobile screen mirroring for navigation, a USB-charging port, a single-piece seat, and a sporty-looking exhaust. The highlight feature of this scooter is an integrated dash-cam – seen commonly only in cars.

All said, the VLF Mobster has a premium positioning in Europe. If it has to make a dent in the sporty scooter segment, VLF should consider pricing it competitively in India. We think Rs 1.4 lakh for the Mobster 125, and Rs 1.7 lakh for the Mobster 180 (both ex-showroom) sound reasonable. That should make the enthusiasts sit up and take notice of these sporty scooters.

Having said that, VLF (or rather MotoHaus) will have to work really hard in creating brand awareness and expanding their reach. At the moment, the company has presence only in 7 cities, with one dealership in each. The scooter will be available in those cities, and the company says it plans to expand aggressively before launch. VLF has annoucned the Mobster range will launch in India on September 25.

VLF is an Italian two-wheeler manufacturer that also sells the Tennis electric scooter here. The brand is brought in India by Motohaus, who have also introduced Brixton Motorcycles in India.
