Harley Davidson Street 750 Highlights
Harley-Davidson has commenced deliveries of the BS6-compliant Street 750. With this, the Street 750 becomes India’s first BS6-compliant bike
The Harley-Davidson Street 750 is a middleweight cruiser and is one of the affordable motorcycles from the brand’s stable in India. The 2018 Street 750 is a part of Dark Custom motorcycle range featuring traditional cruiser design cues that impress a lot of petrol heads out there. The cruiser sports a sweptback handlebar, a round headlamp with a bikini fairing, a low seat height of 720mm and specially tuned rear shock absorbers which get chrome treatment, unlike other elements that get a blacked-out look. The custom dark look of the cruiser is extremely pleasing to eyes, starting from the two-in-one exhaust, 7-spoke cast aluminium wheels, speed screen, fuel tank, engine and narrow seats are all blacked-out. The Street 750 is powered by liquid-cooled, Revolution X V-Twin 749cc engine that makes 47.6PS at 8,000rpm and a peak torque of 59Nm at 3,750rpm. The bike gets a six-speed gearbox. Adding to its offerings list, there are features like 3.5-inch electronic speedometer with high beam, low fuel warning, low oil pressure, engine diagnostics, blade key ignition and fork lock.
The bike sits on steel double cradle frame and rides on telescopic front forks and gas-charged rear shocks with swingarm. The braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends. The bike comes with ABS for added safety. Available in seven color shades namely Vivid Black, Black Denim, Wicked Red, Bonneville Salt Pearl, Vivid Black Deluxe, Wicked Red Deluxe and Bonneville Salt Pearl Deluxe, the Street 750 gets a starting price tag of Rs 5.97 lakh (on-road Delhi). In the Indian market, it locks horns with Kawasaki Vulcan S, Benelli TNT 600i and the Hyosung Aquila Pro 650.

Expert Review
With the Street 750, Harley Davidson has opened its doors for the beginner motorcycling enthusiasts, who dreamt to own one from its stable, but feared from the high price points and intimidating profiles of the rest of its motorcycles. With a basic design which looks sober and adequate, the Street 750 may lack the overall
size and persona of a Harley Davidson, but it does have a sweet road presence. Power comes from an all new four stroke, liquid cooled, twin cylinder Revolution-X engine, which displaces 749cc and produces 60 Nm of torque, making it the smallest least powerful engine from the Harley Davidson family in India. The rest of the mechanical setup is basic as well, with the Street 750 fitted with traditional telescopic hydraulic front forks and the conventional twin shock absorbers. Priced at Rs. 5.17 lakh, the Street 750 is the most affordable motorcycle from Harley Davidson currently available in India.
As said before, the Street 750 is Harley Davidson’s least priced motorcycle in India. At Rs. 5.17 lakh, the Street 750 screams value, for the fact that it is the most affordable 750cc motorcycle currently available in the country.
For 2018, Harley Davidson has introduced dual tone color options for the Street 750. The motorcycle is now available in the single tone paint options of Vivid Black, Black Denim, Wicked Red and Bonneville Salt Pearl and dual tone paint schemes of Vivid Black Deluxe, Wicked Red Deluxe, Bonneville Salt Pearl Deluxe.
On the basis of price point, there might not be a direct competitor to the Street 750, but then, moving up the ladder slightly, the Street 750 has an able rival in the form of Triumph Street Twin. Compared to the low slung cruiser profile of the Street 750, the Street Twin has a retro flair in its overall design, which is slightly more premium and smart looking. The Street Twin has a smaller 650cc twin cylinder, which though produces equal levels of performance, making the engine more tractable and easy to use. The lower kerb weight of the Street Twin is an additional bonus for its low speed manners, making it an easier motorcycle to ride.
Design and Features
Compared to the bling and size of the Harley Davidson motorcycles we have known in the past, the Street 750 possesses none, and looks a bit basic when viewed with the rest of the range of the manufacturer. But that doesn’t mean it looks bad – it does have its own personality which makes it sober and built to purpose. With a traditional cruiser design, the Street 750 comes with a blackened theme which is a usually not seen much on the Harley Davidson motorcycles from the past.
The Street 750 has a basic round headlamp which gets surrounded by tucked-back headlamp cowl, thus giving some presence to the otherwise bland face. In an old school fashion, the front forks of the Street 750 come with zig-zag rubber padding, the round turn indicators are amber colored and a chopped front fender sits above the front tyre.
The side profile of the Street 750 looks elongated with a long peanut shaped fuel tank, which now comes with a dual tone finish. Below the fuel tank sits the twin cylinder Revolution-X engine in all its glory, which is completely finished in black and pulls out a 2-into-1 long exhaust pipe. The seven spoke alloy wheels too have a basic design which is in symphony with the rest of the design. The low slung styling of the Street 750 gives it a low seat height, with the Street 750 getting a single piece long seat. The long radiator placed ahead of the engine compartment looks purposeful and adds in the presence of the motorcycle
The rear end of the Street 750 is rather plain and looks bland with a small LED tail lamp on the rear fender at the end of the tapered rear body panel. The basic-ness of the overall motorcycle is carried forward in the way the instrument console is designed. The single pod part digital console packs in an analog speedometer and a small LCD display which provides readouts for odometer, trip meter and various small tell tale info.
Overall, the Street 750 looks smart, but it would have been great if Harley Davidson could have made extra effort to make it a bit more premium and distinct looking motorcycle.
Braking and Handling
Given its lower price positioning, the Street 750’s overall mechanical hardware is a bit basic. On the suspension front, the Street 750 comes with a basic setup of telescopic hydraulic forks at the front and a pair of hydraulic coil springs at the rear. The suspension setup might sound a bit basic, but then, it is set on a softer side, which makes the overall ride quality of the Street 750 plush and compliant to Indian road conditions.
The single disc at the front and a single disc at the rear take care of braking on the Street 750, which now get an additional support in the form of ABS as standard. The low seat height, smaller dimensions as compared to its stable mates and low kerb weight make the Street 750 the most agile motorcycle from Harley Davidson family to putter around in city conditions
Safety and Features
The powerful sports bike has been crafted such as to offer a purely balanced ride with proper weight balance. The bike is affixed with single disc brakes in the front and a set of disc brake at the rear to offer prompt and reliable braking response. The front hydraulic forks and rear coil spring shock absorbers form the suspension system of the bike. Added more towards safety is the AHO (Auto Headlamp ON) feature to the headlight. This feature makes sure that the headlight remains in a default ON mode every time the bike is taken for a ride. The mandatory feature has considerably reduced the rate of road accidents in India.
