Overview

The BMW R 1200 GS Adventure is as big and as brawny as it gets. Loaded to the brim with off-road-focussed bits and bobs, there’s nothing this massive motorcycle can’t conquer. While the design language is similar to the other GS models, the Adventure variant sports full crash protection bar on the sides, covering the engine as well. At a gargantuan 30 litres, the Adventure variant’s fuel tank capacity is 10 litres bigger than the regular R 1200 GS. The on-board computer in the multifunction display keeps track of fuel consumption, distance and a whole lot more info. There’s also a small compartment above the fuel tank to store knick-knacks.

The BMW R 1200 GS Adventure is powered by a 1170cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC flat-twin engine. It generates 125PS of power at 7750rpm, and 125Nm of torque at 6500rpm. Coupled with a 6-speed transmission, the motorcycle is capable of reaching a top speed of over 200 kmph. It may not sound like much by today’s big bike standards but the GS’ off-road capabilities are unparalleled. This is thanks to the BMW Motorrad Telelever front and a BMW Motorrad Paralever adjustable rear suspension. The R 1200 GS Adventure also gets two riding modes, ‘Rain’ and ‘Road’. The BMW R 1200 GS Adventure competes with the Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro and Triumph Tiger 1200 XCx in the Indian market.
