Mahindra is known as the most celebrated utility vehicle brand in India. The company has a wide range of SUVs and Jeeps in India. After proving itself in the Indian four wheeler market, the company thought to try their hand in the Indian two wheeler market. But the challenges of the most emerging two-wheeler market are even bigger and the prominent player of the four-wheels, struggling on two-wheels. However, this stage of competition, this step of the company can be proven as a fruit or a tort for the company. But the way of success always filled with risks. For taking an advantage, the company is using Italian technology in its bikes. The very first bike of the company was Mahindra Stallio, which failed to carter some numbers for itself. However, Mahindra tried again and launched a much better revised edition of Stallio called Mahindra Pantero. The bike is doing well due to its exciting features at an affordable price. But the design of the bike is not so impressive. So the company thought to launch another bike with same technology and features including some extra premium features and a more appealing design. That bike has been recently launched and named- Mahindra Centuro 110.
Mahindra launched the Centuro as a premium commuter segment bike. The bike has many advanced features and latest technology along with a very affordable price tag. Price of this 110 cc premium bike is comparable to other 100cc bikes. Also the company is offering a 5 years warranty with the bike. But the segment is filled with many amazing commuters and the competition is at a very high level. Let's get into the detailing of the bike and try to calculate that the bike is ready for the battle or not.
While the Pantero was basically a refreshed Stallio, the Centuro is a completely new bike, the Centuro does share components with Panero, but it has a completely new styling. The same Double cradle – tubular structured frame has been used, which has been used in Pantero also. The overall dimensions of the bike are 2031mm x 780mm x 1111mm with a large wheel base of 1265mm. Seat height is 800mm, which includes a ground clearance of 173mm. A long and comfortable seat has been provided for comfortable seating of two, which is well cushioned and provides better ergonomic ride position for both riders. Handlebars are well positioned, thus the bike is easy to maintain and stable. Saddle handle is standard and easy accessible for the pillion rider. Two set of foot pegs are provided for rest the foot in an ergonomic position. The weight of the bike is only 111 kg, which makes it easy to maneuver in the traffic.
The Centuro gets many features and some of which also related to the safety. The bike has a fuel capacity of 12.7 litres which matches its phenomenal fuel economy. The bike has got India's first and only remote flip key in which the metal part of the key slides in its plastic cover and appears with pressing a button. The cover of this exclusive key also holds an LED torch light to find the ignition of the bike even in the dark. This cover holds another switch which is for remote blinkers. When you press this button, the blinkers of the bike starts blinking andyou can find your bike easily at crowded or dark places. An anti theft system has been used in the bike which locks the engine when anybody tries to steel it from another key. The bike has digital instrument panel which includes speedometer, odometer and fuel gauge along with a distance to empty meter. An analog tachometer has been given above this digital console which have all the tale-tell lights distributed on its both sides.
Mahindra Centuro 110 Appearance
According to the segment of the bike, the appearance is overall impressive but we cant judge the bike for any particular person because everybody have its own likes and dislikes over the looks. There are two golden bended rods below the fuel tank in the front of the bike, which are being called Golden Ribs by the company. These golden ribs are the part of its chassis and company saying that this will give a massive look to the bike, however personally we didn't like them much. The bike is available in two standard colour options one is black and the other is red, both are the most preferred colours in bikes. The bike has attractive new graphic design on whole body. The side and rear panels have been arranged in such manner that the panels look like a single piece which is enhancing its look. The front visor of the bike is aerodynamic and designed in a standard style. The head lamp is perfectly focused and provided with 2 LED pilot lamps. Rear suspension spring is painted red to make the bike more attractive. The LED tail lamp is small and trendy. Five spoke wheels are going with its looks and black theme has been used in bike with a metallic panel on the exhaust pipe. The overall look is satisfactory according to the segment.
The same 106.7 cc, single cylinder, air cooled, 4- stroke, MCi-5 engine which also has been used in Pantero. The MCi-5 stands for Micro Chip ignited 5 curve engine which is an intelligent system making a balance between the need of power and economy on the go. The bike churns a maximum power of 8.5 PS at 7500 rpm and a peak torque of 8.5 Nm at 5500 rpm. These range of power and torque are sufficient for commuters which are mostly ridden in the cities. We don't know that any modification has been done in the engine or not, but the performance of the Centuro is better than the Pantero. Regular constant mesh type 4- speed transmission box has been used to balance between the power, torque and speed. A full covered chain drive is delivering the power and torque from the gear box to its rear wheel. The bike goes to a top speed of 95kmph but the bike performs smoothly upto 60 kmph.
The bike have all standard comfort features like comfortable seat, telescopic front forks and rear hydraulic coiled spring 5- step adjustable suspensions. Good quality 2.75” X 18” / 3.0” tyres have been used on 18” wheels which are giving a good road grip along with excellent stability even at the time of cornering. A maintenance free battery has been used, so needs lesser attention. Bike has option of self start over kick start.
Mahindra Centuro 110 Mileage
Centuro's new MCi-5 engine has been balanced perfectly between the requirement of power and economy. The bike gives a top mileage of 85.4 kmpl on highways while a range of mileage between 60-70 kmpl in cities which depends on the traffic conditions.
The bike has got 130 mm internal expanding drum brakes on both the front and the rear wheel which are sufficient to control a 110 cc bike's speed. Handling of the bike is good and bike remains stable even at corners, pits and bumps.
The bike has got many safety features which don't comes with other bikes in the segment. Its remote flip key is safer to keep in pocket. The key has a LED torch which can help in emergency. Find me system in blinker can help in finding the bike easy in emergency. Its engine's anti theft system along with the 96 bit encrypted remote key, sounds an alarm and locks the engine when anybody tries to theft the bike from another key. Its perfectly focused head lamp comes along with 2 LED pilot lamps which makes the way more clear in dark nights.
