Expert Review
The Indian Roadmaster is the US-based company’s touring motorcycle and is aimed at riders who want maximum comfort, premium features, and a powerful touring machine for long-distance journeys.
Indian Roadmaster Price
The Indian Roadmaster is priced at Rs 48.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
Indian Roadmaster Colours
In India, the Roadmaster is offered three colour options: Black Metallic, Black Metallic/Titanium Metallic and Spirit Blue Metallic/Silver Quartz Metallic. While all three colour schemes look quite good, we find the Black Metallic/Titanium Metallic to be the best.
Indian Roadmaster Variants
The Indian Roadmaster comes in a single variant in India.
Indian Roadmaster Design
The Indian Roadmaster has a very commanding presence. It features a massive batwing front fairing with an electronically-adjustable windshield, massive footpegs, a plush touring seat, and generous 137 litres of storage capacity in weatherproof saddlebags and a rear trunk. From the side, the flowing lines, large chrome engine casing, and premium lighting give it a sense of boat-like elegance.
Indian Roadmaster Engine
The Indian Roadmaster is powered by a 1,890cc air-cooled V-twin engine that produces 171Nm at just 3,000rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
Indian Roadmaster Features
The Roadmaster gets a 7-inch TFT console with Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth connectivity, and navigation. Other features include a 100-watt audio system, heated grips and seats, keyless ignition, cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring, all-LED lighting, and remote-locking luggage. Adjustable fairing vents and rear-cylinder deactivation further add to rider comfort in different climates.
Indian Roadmaster Chassis, Brakes, Wheels, Suspension
Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic front fork with 119mm of travel and an adjustable monoshock with 114mm of travel. Braking is handled by dual 300mm floating discs with 4-piston callipers at the front and a single 300mm disc at the rear with dual-channel ABS. It rolls on 17-inch front and 16-inch rear alloy wheels with Metzeler Cruisetec tyres. With a massive 20.8-litre fuel tank capacity, it weighs in at 412kg kerb. The ground clearance is 140mm, and while the low 673mm seat height should make it manageable for shorter riders.
Indian Roadmaster Competition
In India, the Roadmaster competes with other luxury touring motorcycles like the Harley-Davidson Road Glide and BMW K 1600 Grand America. Compared to its rivals, the Roadmaster is the most expensive, followed by the Harley, and the most affordable being the BMW.
