After a successful start in Bengaluru, Royal Brothers have started the bike-taxi service in Mangalore. The company has its roots in the tech-city and is now expanding with its newly launched Royal Enfields and Honda Activa’s in the geographical area of Mangalore.

With the founders belonging to the tech industry, Royal Brothers have got a satisfactory response from the time it has started and the team is continuously growing. As reported by an online daily, Manjunath, one of the co-founders said, "Premium costs of these bikes forced me to think of a solution, so that anybody who wishes to could ride these bikes without owning them."

He further added, "The entire credit of Royal Brothers being operational on the roads goes to Ravi Kumar P, additional chief secretary, Transport and Power. The major hurdle was to get an official nod from the RTO, to operate self-ride motorcycles, as these never even existed and there was no provision in their online system to incorporate one. The process of getting the valid permit to start the service, like any other, was affected largely by delays and running around. When this seemed like an impossible task, Kumar came as a life saver and he took up our case by himself. Greatly appreciating the uniqueness and potential of the startup, Kumar speeded up the formalities and other documentation that was required for the self-ride licence to be given to Royal Brothers. Since then, there was no looking back and Royal Brothers became the first bike rental startup to get such a licence in South India."

Renting a Royal Enfield or an Activa is easy as the user needs to register his/her name and driver’s licence on their official website, which will lead them to select the machine and later the rent duration and pick-up point is asked. At present, the company charges Rs. 16 an hour for Honda Activa and Rs. 30 an hour for Royal Enfield bikes and the weekend charges may go higher depending upon the availability. Also, anyone opting for the same has to deposit Rs. 2,000 as a refundable deposit.
