26th November, 2015: Last year TVS has added another Scooty in its line-up. This time the manufacturer has brought a 110cc Scooty that displays plenty of features make its owner feel comfortable. Offered at an affordable price, it is christened as Zest and looks very attractive with intelligent built. The motor of the machine is a 109.7cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled, CVTi engine. It is claimed to return a fuel economy of 62kmpl, while its power outputs are likeable. It is made available in Terrific Turquoise, Powerful Pink, Daring Black, Dynamic White and Fiery Red. Now, there are three models in the line-up viz. Streak, Pep Plus and Zest. The two other scooty models are powered through small capacity 87cc single cylinder, 4-stroke, forced air-cooled engine. It can generate a maximum power of 4.9bhp at 6,500rpm and peak torque of 5.8Nm at 4,000rpm.

  • Overview

    After the remarkable popularity and fame earning from the Scooty pep among the female community, TVS unveiled its elder sibling, the scooty streak. With an aim to broaden the scooterette section, the TVS scooty streak was launched to give that extra fun and comfort every scooty lover looks for. It offers improved body dynamics and that extra charm. The design is pretty muscular compared to its predecessor and the overall looks are also decent. With an aim to provide a second choice to our female folks, the scooty streak comes with a pocket friendly price as well. Currently, there are three models in the line-up viz. Streak, Pep Plus and Zest.

    TVS Scooty Pep Plus first introduced in the country since 2005 and it was available with many color options ever. It is equipped with 87cc, 4-stroke, single-cylinder, forced air-cooled engine that churns out 4.9bhp of power and 5.8Nm of torque. It has a fuel tank capacity of 5 liters and generates a best-in-class mileage of 65 kmpl. Currently, the scooty is available in three colors including Frosted Black, Gorgeous Grey and Vivacious Purple.

    In 2009 TVS Scooty Streak came into market with nice appearance and with same engine used in the Pep Plus. It gets tough body design with sports dual tone paint schemes like Purple with Black, Pink with Black, Red with Black, Orange with Black and Green with Black. The Streak features a mobile charging facility present in its glove box.

    TVS Scooty Zest is the latest in this segment that enhances load carrying capacity to the range. It is equipped with sharp and bold curves, twilight lamps, back-lit speedometer, leaf shaped body colored rear view mirrors, LED tail lights, textured floor boards, double stitched seats and stainless steel muffler guard.  The Double Rated Hydraulic Monoshock has been introduced for the first time to a scooty range.

    The Zest gets it power through 109.7cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled, CVTi engine. The motor is tuned to generate 7.9bhp of power and 8.7Nm of torque. It is the first 110cc scooty which was introduced by the Indian manufacturer. Besides a likeable power outputs, the machine still claims to generate a best-in-class mileage of 62kmpl.

  • Design

    TVS Scooty models are designed to attract the female riders mainly. It is slim, sleek and lightweight design that helps the female riders to master them with ease. The features like eazy centre stand and easy kick start option have been given to the range that ease parking for female riders and is easily accessible in the city traffic conditions.

    TVS Scooty Pep Plus designed like a cute little bird that is highly appreciated by the girls. It is among the most lightweight machines that weigh about 95kg only. The headlight is fixed at the handlebars along with the rear view mirrors. Its instrumental cluster comprises of an analog meter displaying speedometer, odometer and fuel gauge. There is a good under seat storage for the rider’s convenience. The tail lamp is simple, sober and compliments the pleasant design of the scooter.

    TVS Scooty Streak’s design is pretty muscular compared to its predecessor and the overall looks are decent. The front portion is faired well which matches perfectly with the overall flow of the body profile. The headlamp section is now more wider which ensures sharper looks and better visibility on roads at night. The tail lamp section is impressive with only one of its kind multiple red LED's stacked in a horizontal fashion. The primary tail light housed below, adds to the visual feel. The turn indicators also find a space with them to blend perfectly. The consecutive LED's now add more appeal to the looks when viewed from rear. The rear panel is now stronger and improved as compared to its sibling scooterette. The under seat storage is also enhanced. This gives an extra space to our shopaholics for those extra goodies. The overall body dimensions of the streak are bigger in numbers in comparison to the baby scooty. This gives the streak a handsome stance in public.

    TVS Scooty Zest has the most appealing appearance among its siblings. Designed to the match the current trend, the scooter has swoopy designs. The front apron looks magnetic with twilight lamps. The smart headlamp and Leaf shaped body colored rear view mirrors go well with the muscular design. It also sports the first back-lit speedometer with eco indicator. LED tail light with stylish side indicators illuminates the rear profile of the scooter. The scooter holds an under seat storage space of 19 liter. There are under seat helmet hook and bag hook, front bag hook and glove box for the rider to carry its articles along with ease.

  • Engine & Performance

    Both TVS Scooty Pep Plus and Streak are equipped with 87.8cc, single cylinder, 4-stroke, forced air-cooled engine that has automatic CVT drive with torque sensor. The engine can generate a maximum power of 4.9bhp at 6,500rpm and peak torque of 5.8Nm at 4,000rpm. Besides it develops the supreme power, the motor is claimed to deliver a best-in-class mileage of 65kmpl. The Pep Plus comes with a fuel tank capacity of 5 liters while that of the Streak is 4.7 liter only. Whereas, TVS Scooty Zest houses with a 109.7cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled, CVTi engine. The motor produces the peak power of 7.9bhp at 7,500rpm and a peak torque of 8.7Nm at 5,500rpm. The company claims that it can generate a good mileage of 62kmpl along with class leading power to weight ratio and quickest pick-up of 0-60 kmph in 11.1 seconds.

  • Braking & Handling

    The range of TVS Scooty is on progress with 90/90-10-inch tubeless tyres provided at both the ends. The braking is done by 110mm drum brakes at both wheels of Pep Plus and Streak. However, the rear wheel of the Zest receives 130mm of drum brake. The brakes work well but it can be improved by employing of disc brakes. The suspension duties are very well completed with the help of  telescopic front forks and rear double rated hydraulic mono shock.

  • Safety Features

    TVS Scooty range is designed to provide extreme safety and comfort. The lightweight machine’s design is mainly emphasized on female riders so the features are set accordingly.  Its 12V headlight that lighten up the road well in the dark and offers proper visibility at nights. The 90 x 90 10" tubeless tyres provide good gripping on every type of road surfaces. It is easy to stand and quick to start that makes it easily accessible. The scooty is very lightweight which makes it easily accessible while riding in the city navigation system. The suspension and well cushioned seat ensures comfort on bumpy road surfaces. It also has less ground clearance that increase its stability.

    I am Puneet from Delhi. My friends advised me to not buy this scooter but I likes it. I am facing some issues with it after its running for 1 year. Sometimes, the engine feels like its gasping for breath (which I’d just put down to bad fuel). I suspect the spark plug needs to be cleaned as do the air and fuel filters.
