Really Amazing Bike In This Segment
I own a Royal Enfield GT, and some people tend to criticize Royal Enfield bikes for not being very fast. However, deciding on a Royal Enfield is not as simple as just looking at speed. Even Harley's Street 500 isn't known for its speed. In terms of comfort and posture, I haven't experienced any back pain, although, in heavy traffic, my fingers have gone numb. Now, moving on to the downsides of the bike: It's often referred to as the "Lightest Enfield," but it's not actually light. Maneuvering it in congested places can be quite challenging. If the bike tilts beyond a certain point, it's tough to hold, and my bike has even fallen once. Due to its weight and relatively tall seat height, it's not well-suited for shorter riders (those under 5 feet 6 inches). It has a wide turning radius, making it difficult to make tight U-turns. The footrest is positioned close to the Kickstarter, and this can be problematic as it might accidentally cut your leg if you try to kickstart the bike while mounting. I've started to notice that the ground clearance isn't very high. Sometimes, on larger speed bumps, some parts of my bike touch the ground. It happens more frequently when I have a pillion rider. After a few long rides, nuts and bolts tend to get loose. Once, my instrument system lost its screws, and it was hanging precariously. Even the screws on my number plate have come undone. I find myself needing to tighten things like this every three to four months. This is mainly due to the vibrations from the heavy single-cylinder engine. The most annoying aspect is dealing with various unexpected noises (I don't even know where they're coming from). These noises sometimes drown out the beautiful exhaust sound. I notice them especially when I remove my helmet. Additionally, the Brembo brakes tend to accumulate dust and make a strange noise similar to insects. Cleaning them helps temporarily, but the noise tends to return after a few days. Despite these drawbacks, the pros of owning the Royal Enfield GT far outweigh the cons. It's a head-turner, and I sometimes find myself just staring at it in the garage. The thumping sound is unique and distinct from other bikes, which I find incredible. The performance is more than sufficient for Indian roads, and the suspension, brakes, and headlights are of high quality.Read More
