Yamaha Ray is presently one of the most worthy and promising scooters available in the 110cc Indian scooter market. Yamaha Ray gets its power from a 113cc, air-cooled, four-stroke mill that comes paired with an automatic V-belt transmission. The Blue Core enabled engine returns a commendable mileage of 66kmpl along with a superior all-round performance. The scooter progresses on 90/100-10 53J tube type tyres fitted at the front as well as rear. The retardation is done with the help of powerful 130mm front and rear drum brakes. The SOHC, 2-valve mill churns out a net power of 7bhp at 7,500rpm with a peak torque of 8.1Nm at 5,000rpm. Moreover, it comes assisted with Yamaha’s Blue Core engine technology that ensures a better combustion and cooling efficiency, besides a decent fuel economy of 66kmpl as claimed by the manufacturer. The carbureted engine has a bore x stroke ratio of 50mm x 57.8mm and uses CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) as its default ignition unit. With this arrangement, Yamaha Ray attains an acceleration of 0 to 60kmph in 12 seconds and hits a top speed of 86kmph. 

Braking & Handling

The scooter runs on 90/100-10 53J front and rear tyres that are mounted over robust lightweight steel wheels. The braking is done via reliable 130mm drum brakes fitted at both ends that offer a good bite and brings the vehicle to a halt instantly as and when required. The suspension system comprises of telescopic forks at the front and swing arm with spring aided shock absorbers at the rear. 

Safety Features

Yamaha Ray has a powerful multi reflector 12V-35/35W headlight that illuminates the streets well in dark and low light conditions. The twin rear view mirrors notifies the rider of any incoming traffic approaching from behind. The durable 130mm drum brakes fitted at the front and as well as rear works fine in all conditions and proves their worth well in case of an emergency.

18th August, 2015: Yamaha Ray is one of the best selling products in the scooter lineup of Yamaha that was introduced a few years back. The scooter has recently got an upgrade with the incorporation of Yamaha Blue Core engine technology that promises a superior cooling and combustion efficiency, with an improved fuel economy. Powered by a 113cc, air-cooled, four-stroke engine, Yamaha Ray comes with a handful of convenient features such as an underseat storage compartment, front telescopic forks and a longer seat. It is available across the country in the following three breathtaking colours with attractive graphics: Burgundy Bliss, Starry White and Black Star. The scooter takes on other leading 110cc scooters such as Honda Activa and TVS Zest 110 quite impressively.
