It seems that now CKD bikes would attract 30 per cent import duty as against 60 per cent previously by Indian Government in the general budget 2011. Now all the CKD bikes providers such as Harley Davidson, Hyosung Motors, Kawasaki Motors, Suzuki Motors, Honda Motors would be at rest as the proposed 60 per cent duty seems to be reduced to only 30 per cent.

It is to be noted that auto mobile industry opposed the proposed excise duty hike recently and the Government is taking this seriously. Sources indicates that the present 60 per cent duty might be reduced to 30 per cent.

All the completely knocked down (CKD) bikes provider companies import gear boxes, engines and another major technical parts from their base countries and assemble the bikes in India.

The most popular CKD bikes in India are Kawasaki Ninja 250R, Honda CBR 250R, KTM Duke 200, Ducati bikes, Harley Davidson SuperLow, Harely Davidson Iron 883, Hyosung GT 650R, Hyosung ST7, Suzuki GXR, Suzuki Bandit, Suzuki Hayabusa, Honda CBR 1000RR,etc. And now prices for the bikes would be reviewed and price hike decision would be taken.

Harley Davidson and Hyosung which have announced that their bikes will be available with previous announced price even after increase in import duty. And Hyosung is going to launch its GT 650R next with already announced price tag.

Despite this increment other International companies like Victory Motorcycles, KTM bikes and Ducati bikes will launch their bikes in Indian with aim of setting up assembly plants in the country.
