The manufacturer sells its latest facelifted model under Activa-i name, which is powered by the same 110cc motor that serves its standard model and its fellows, Aviator and Dio. The refined mill churns out a maximum power of 8bhp with a peak torque of 8.74Nm and delivers superior throttle response and performance. The mechanicals remain unaltered with only modification in the body dynamics. Honda Activa-i can be availed countrywide through the Honda dealerships at a price of Rs. 45,881 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It comes in four attractive shades of Purple Metallic, Alpha Red Metallic, Pearl Sunbeam White and Beige Metallic. The scooter stands tough against Yamaha Alpha and TVS Scooty Zest.

The astonishing scooter of the country Honda Activa gets another upgrade christened as Honda Activa-i. Having completed more than a decade in the Indian automotive market, the scooter has shown some highly applaudable sales records to the company and scored well on every aspect. Powering it is a 109.2cc, air-cooled, four-stroke, SI engine that pumps out a peak power of 8bhp at 7,500rpm with a maximum torque of 8.74Nm at 5,500rpm. With an automatic V-matic transmission and Honda’s revolutionary HET (Honda Eco Technology), the scooter hits a top speed of 83kmph and delivers a decent fuel economy of 60kmpl.
Built on a high rigidity underbone type frame, the scooter moves on 90/100-10 tubeless tyres fitted at both ends. The suspension duties are handled impressively by spring loaded hydraulic shock absorbers at the front as well as rear. The stopping power is provided by a pair of 130mm drum brakes that are further equipped with Honda’s advanced Combined Braking System (CBS).
The body design of Honda Activa-i is dynamically boosted as compared to its base version. The refreshed model gets a restyled headlamp section with new clear lens turn indicators mounted at the apron. The rear ends receive an impressive upgrade with the addition of a restyled tail lamp section. Twin air vents are provided on either side of body panels that look stunning. A rear tyre hugger is equipped to prevent the pillion rider from mud and water splash.
Honda Activa i body dimensions are 1,795mm x 705mm x 1,115mm (LxWxH), which give it a respectable stance in the public. With a wheelbase and minimum ground clearance of 1,238mm and 165mm respectively, the scooter proves its worth in the areas of stability and ride quality as well. The instrument cluster comes in an impressive dual tone colour scheme consisting of an analogue speedometer, fuel gauge and telltale lights. The scooter has a genuine under-seat storage capacity of 18 liters that gives another benefit to the rider.
It seems that Honda engineers were kept locked in a room for sometime with an Activa and were told to come out with something better. They succeeded well and the result came up as Honda Activa-i. Giving one of the most majestic facelifts ever to its best-selling model, the company has crafted the Honda Activa-i beautifully which never fails to impress its audience. The front fascia gets a rectangular shaped headlamps that enhances the appeal along with the stylish clear lens turning blinkers fitted at the apron.
However, while going towards the rear, the overall body profile seems less masculine than its earlier model. Retaining the styling of the scooter, the manufacturer has made some impressive modifications like a refreshed rear tail lamp section and sharply designed side panels. The dimensions of Honda Activa-i are 1,795mm x 705mm x 1,115mm (LxWxH) with a wheelbase of 1,238mm. It has a minimum ground clearance of 165mm that gives it a low centre of gravity ensuring good handling characteristics. The total weight of the scooter sums up to 103kg which is 5kg less than its standard model.
Engine And Performance
Honda Activa-i gets one of the most well-refined scooter mills in the country. The 109.2cc, air-cooled, four-stroke engine is mated to a V-matic automatic transmission system and churns out a maximum power of 8bhp at 7,500rpm with a peak torque of 8.74Nm at 5,500rpm. Taking its breaths from a viscous paper filter, the engine has a bore x stroke ratio of 50mm x 55.6mm and a compression ratio of 9.5:1. With its hardware set-up, the scooter hits a top speed of 83kmph. The Honda Eco Technology (HET) ensures a decent fuel economy of 60kmpl as claimed by the company and with a 5.3 liter fuel tank in stock, the scooter covers a commendable range without refuelling.
Braking And Handling
Good tyres are one of the main aspects of a superior ride quality. Keeping this in mind, the Japanese manufacturer has fitted a set of grippy 90/100-10 tubeless tyres in the scooter that are mounted over stylish alloy wheels. The suspension set-up include spring loaded hydraulic shock absorbers at both ends that work well even on the roughest roads. Honda Activa-i comes to a standstill by the application of 130mm drum brakes at the front as well as rear. The braking power is further enhanced by the incorporation of Honda’s Combined Braking System (CBS) that applies both brakes while pressing the rear brake lever only.

Honda Activa i Review
I purchased an Activa I from Doshi Honda on 1st of March . Here is my review 1.After 6 months, the mileage is around 45 Km which is not so great 2.The ride is not so smooth(like the bike is moving forcefully) 3.Handling and looks - I found it great 4. Morning start problem as found in others - Not as of now. Will need to wait until winter.
I bought the activa i white colour from 21 Honda andheri at Rs. 52000/- Before 1st service it was giving me a mileage of almost 40 kmpl. After 500 km run i completed 1st service and now run another 500 km. But disappointed by its poor mileage of 33 kmpl. The body is made of light fiber which has reduced the weight of the vehicle and therefore it is convenient for city drive. The company claim mileage of 60 kmpl but how can a Honda making such a poor technology. I am having another Indian Bajaj Pulsar which is giving 55 kmpl. Even Indian Maruti Celerio on road real world mileage in city is 18...
