A viral video posted on X (formerly Twitter) showing a man riding his Ola S1 Pro Gen 1 scooter without using his hands, with the caption “Guy returning home after wife said on the phone "ghar aao, batati hun fir!" caught the attention of Ola’s CEO Bhavish Aggarwal.

He quote-posted the video, jokingly suggesting that he is thinking of charging a subscription fee for cruise control after seeing the video.

Interestingly, back in March 2023, Bhavish Aggarwal had also teased a radar-based cruise control feature (a form of ADAS - Advanced Driver Assistance System) under development. You can check the feature in action here:

Once perfected, expect the next-generation S1 Pro to get the feature. ADAS-based cruise control, also called adaptive cruise control, alters the speed based on what’s ahead of the vehicle. As for a conventional cruise control feature, it is handy in situations where there’s no traffic on the road and the rider can just set a particular speed so that the electric scooter holds the preset speed without having to provide throttle input. It reduces fatigue while riding long distances.

That said, abusing such a feature in busy roads will prove to be a risk not to the rider but also to other commuters. We at BikeDekho do not endorse such dangerous stunts on public roads, we advise people to ride safely and always wear a helmet.
