We recently tested the new KTM 160 Duke, and here’s how it turned out to be

It gets an aggressive design with bodywork inspired from bigger models like the 390 Duke and the 790 Duke

It has typical KTM design elements like the sharp headlight, long tank extensions and an orange-coloured subframe that look quite sporty

The Duke 160 comes in three colour schemes: Electronic Orange, Atlantic Blue, and Silver Metallic Matt. The Electronic Orange is the flashiest one.

The KTM 160 Duke is powered by a new 164.2cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, producing 19PS and 15.5Nm. It is the most powerful bike in the 160cc segment

Its engine is quite rev-happy and refined, but there’s a noticeable buzz in the footpegs past the 7000rpm mark

The bike’s sweet spot is around 80kmph, and beyond that the engine feels quite stressed

Due to its light weight (147kg kerb) , the bike is very agile and changes direction effortlessly.

The bike’s suspension setup is quite nice and absorbs most of the bumps easily. It is also quite planted when riding fast and feels stable even in corners.

Its brakes are a bit of a letdown, with the front lacking initial bite and the rear having no feel to it. But it comes with a switchable ABS as standard.

Its LCD console looks quite dull. We think a TFT display could make the bike a perfect package at this price point

All in all, we think it's the perfect bike for first-time buyers looking for a bike with exciting performance while keeping the running costs in check.
