This is a more touring-friendly version of the KLX230, and comes with loads of accessories.
It gets body-coloured knuckle guards, a touring-friendly seat, and a luggage rack.
Overall, the bike looks quite similar to the standard KLX230, but the DF version gets a rugged-looking glossy brown paint scheme. Oddly, the official name of the colour is ‘Cloudy Grey’.
Adding to its rugged look is the blacked-out engine, exhaust shield, and spoked wheels - we wish the std KLX230 in India came with this colour scheme!
Mechanically, the bike remains unchanged and uses the same 233cc air-cooled engine, making 18PS and 18Nm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
The bike runs on the same 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels, with knobby tyres at both ends.
At 136kg (dry weight), the bike is quite light. Even the seat is 35mm lower on this variant, at 845mm. It may sound like a lot but the narrow profile should make it accessible
The 7.6-litre fuel tank is the same as the std variant. We’d have liked it if it came with a larger tank for better touring range.
It’s unlikely to be launched in India, but the India-spec KLX230 recently got a whole lot affordable. Read more here
